Ambrogio 4.0 Elite (4.0 Elite Extra Premium)

This mower was supposed to be my favorite. I purchased it due to the superior construction of the mower's hardware. The drive shafts and wheels are made of metal and are extremely well-designed. On both sides of the front wheels are deflectors and what appear to be stainless steel "U" mounts. Metal wheels with rubber tires provide excellent traction on the dual rear wheels. When I bought it three weeks ago, there were no reviews on Amazon, but the build quality was so good that I decided to take a chance. br>I received the mower in two boxes about two weeks ago. In one, you'll find the mower, while in the other, you'll find the battery, power supply, and charging interface. I ordered an inductive power supply, but the dealer sent me one with spring contacts instead. In addition, the power supply box contained no instructions. Although it was not difficult to figure out where everything went, this is not professional. br>Installing the perimeter wire and using the mower's menus are covered in the Owner's Manual. The Ambrogio Remote App isn't covered by it. Later on, this was significant. br>When I first turned on the mower, it didn't ask any initialization questions, which led me to believe it wasn't brand new, despite the fact that the box hadn't been resealed and the mower looked brand new. The mower couldn't dock properly after I installed the perimeter wire, and the charging springs missed the charging plate. It took a while for me to notice that there was an old steel push cultivator about a foot away from the base unit. This issue was resolved by moving it. br>A few minutes after I got the mower cutting, it shut itself off about 20 minutes after starting a work cycle in the middle of a flat yard with no obstacles. When I turned it back on, it cut for about 2 hours before saying it was finished, despite the fact that the battery still had 1 bar and the work cycle was over an hour old. br>When I finally got around to testing Border Cut, I discovered that it, too, had issues. The mower cut fine for 60 feet before turning around, stopping the blade, and backing up for about 8 feet before turning around and continuing the Border Cut with the blade turned off. A firmware update, which the Remote App offered to do once I installed it on my phone, helped to partially resolve the problem. (My firmware was around R42000 before being upgraded to R48902. ) Another reason I believe the mower was not brand new is because of this. ) I would not have had this problem if the Owners Manual included instructions on how to install and run the Ambrogio Remote App. (BTW, the mower still turns around backwards and turns off the blade, but while backing up and turning around, it turns the blade back on. ) )br>Another neat feature of Ambrogio is that it eliminates the need for Guide Wires. After a 2mt x 5cm signal, you can place a 40cm x 40cm x 50cm triangle in the perimeter wire 2 meters away, and the mower will first go to the wire, then turn 90 degrees and traverse the yard to the perimeter wire on the other side of the yard, significantly reducing the time it takes to return to the station. This, too, did not work, and the firmware update did not resolve the problem. The triangle has a tolerance of 1/4 inch, according to the dealer. I double-checked my triangle and found it to be outside of the tolerance. br>The cellular connection was not registered with me. When I tried it, I got a Mower Network error and the app timed out. The dealer representative informed me that the mower required a strong signal in order for the Registration to function. I moved the mower to where it had three bars (at my house, it only had two bars) and it completed the Registration. I thought I'd finally found a mower that I'd be happy with, because the previous one wasn't even doing a good job of keeping my grass mowed. I set up all 8 zones, and no matter what, the mower would start in the correct zone, then move to the opposite side of the lawn before I realized it. I was hoping that having a functioning cellular connection would solve the problem. When I returned home with the mower, I began downloading the History. I cancelled it because it was taking too long, but I later discovered that some of the history had been downloaded to the app. I also noticed a lot of activity in the middle of the night, when the mower was supposed to be turned off. As a result, I began a new download of the History and went outside to address the triangle issue. When I returned, the app was no longer active. I attempted to connect but was unable to do so. The mower was turned off when I looked at it. This time, however, it refused to turn back on. I even took the battery out for 30 seconds because I've had success with 'broken' computers being repaired this way. No luck. The mower has reached the end of its useful life. br>I contacted the dealer and gave them a few days to 'correct the situation. ' That time limit has now expired, so I'm writing my review and requesting a refund from Amazon. br>br>Other issues:br>There is a problem with the spiral cut. It always misses the very center of the cut, and the spiral grows too large too quickly, causing more grass to be missed. br>If the mower breaks down while traversing the perimeter wire and you have to turn it off and on again, it will always complain about being out of border. I suppose this isn't a defect because the error goes away if you move the mower a few inches into the mowing area, but since it wasn't Out of Border when it turned off, it shouldn't be Out of Border when it's turned back on.
