br>br>It took me about two hours to complete this installation. With a floor jack and jack stands, I worked for 5 hours in my driveway. br>br>Accessing the four bolts that hold the motor to the mower frame was the most difficult part. The engine's holes were identical to mine, but the four holes were not threaded. As a result, you'll have to drill a hole in the existing hole and install a tap. I used a 3/8" tap and am hoping for the best. To be honest, the next largest Metric size would have been better, but I only had Standard taps. br>br>Because the wire harness matched my Toro perfectly, all I had to do was plug it in and connect the positive and ground to the starter. br>br>I put 2 quarts of oil into the pot. It comes pre-installed with a starter, oil filter, fuel filter and pump, and an air filter. br>br>After fuel was sucked into the system for about 15 seconds on the first turn of the key, it started on the second turn of the key. The engine is in excellent working order, and it walked through 3-foot tall grass with no problems. 4ft tall in the back yard after a lot of rain, waiting for the mower to be fixed like it was nothing. I never died, and I never had to kill a blade; all I had to do was slow down. It runs better now than it did 6 years ago when it was new. FEDEX was extremely slow, so shipping took a long time. They simply let it sit in their warehouse once it arrived in the local area, making no attempt to deliver it. I had to call to get them to set up a delivery time, but I was never given any instructions on how to do so. I'm not sure if they would have ever contacted me. So, with FedEx freight, just keep an eye on your tracking and be proactive. Overall, this is one of the best Amazon deals and purchases I've ever made! I could have gotten it for about half the price if I had gone through Koehler directly! Thanks!.
but. Installing this engine will necessitate the following: No exhaust, no starter solenoid, and the engine mount holes must be tapped. You'll have to figure out the wiring yourself if you're not doing a direct replacement (the online kt715 manual depicted different wire colors than what was on the engine). I discovered that all you need is a 12v ignition to the carb plunger, a charge wire to the purple rectifier wire, and an external starter solenoid if your old engine didn't have one on the starter. I took over for a sluggish B. If you're swapping an S engine into a JD GT235, be aware that the kohler exhaust will not fit into the frame's muffler bay. I ended up making a dual exhaust, and the engine has plenty of power, so I'm pleased with it.
I was a little worried about replacing my old 23hp with this 20hp, but it's worked out great for me. The motor arrived on time and in good condition. There are only a few things that need to be done ahead of time. To mount the motor, I had to tap the bolt holes and reuse a few nuts and bolts from the old motor, but everything went smoothly. It was only necessary to add oil and bolt on the clutch and pulleys after this engine was completed with all filters and starter. I'll be getting a new mower soon to replace this one.
Install a lawnmower from the year 1998.
It has a lot of power and it's very effective. It has the same power as the 23hp Kohler it replaced.
It was used to replace my mower's worn-out engine. Things like that are to be expected, so I had to get a longer throttle cable and install a starter solenoid. It's something I've done several times. It gets up and running quickly and continues to perform admirably.
