Questions & Answers

Is this good for sifting compost that I make at home?

In addition to the 1/2 unit, I also have the 1/4 unit. The 1/2 of a bucket is nestled over the 1/4, on top of a 5-gallon You should only use a shovel full at a time, shake a bit back and forth, and throw the big stuff back in the For the compost to work properly, it should be a bit on the dry side, otherwise the wire will get coated with the wet compost materials and clog The other thing I found was that if you bang the thing upside down on something hard to remove the clogs, it works for four or five times before it Maybe if you had something rubbery to bang, but I used a dead tree next to my pile. To brush off the wires, just brush them off with your gloves, or else you'll have to review your order list and order another one in place of your damaged one. The compost had been stacked for years, and it was quite dry. After sifting it was like black gold. There were mulches on my plants that looked like they were professionally applied The plants this year have grown like crazy. It so happens that the squirrels were having a blast the next morning when they searched for it, but once they had finished with their "Is it here, is it here, is it here" routine, a quick raking with an old garden rake should fix that.

Do you have the time to sift through all 5 at the same time? I need a variety of gravel grades ?

It is not a problem for me to sift dry sand through three layers at a time. Sand or damp soil may cause problems for me, but I am unable to predict what might happen

What if I wanted to sift vegetable seeds with these?

The reason for not doing so is not apparent to me. My main use for them is to store sawdust for gardening, but I also use them to find screws and bits in my saw dust, since As far as I know of gardening, gentle shaking in the wires will help in the preparation of seedlings. You should be able to see seeds in the next to fine screen if you are harvesting them from dirt. You should be able to put out the word if it works.

Does this type of sifting work well for sifting dirt at a ?

There is only a quarter inch mesh strainer in my collection. When using it for sifting stones over a quarter inch in diameter, it works great. They might be able to strain finer stones out if they make a finer mesh strainer. Diamonds are relatively small, so I would expect them to The amount of dirt you can strain at a time is about a half shovelful.

Just a week in Crater of Diamonds state park left me too worn out
5/5

In the set I've been using there are 2 of the 5 bodies with pieces broken out of the rims, and three of the 5 bodies that stick to each other tightly when they're nestled - so I ordered a replacement set yesterday evening. It took about 80 buckets (5 gal each) of soil and gravel at the Crater of Diamonds state park in Arkansas to wash and classify all of that. They are a convenient size and easy to handle, but when you use them heavily, they begin to wear out pretty quickly.

I found it to be (a little) overpriced, but it is a very high quality product
4/5

However, one star is taken away because these classifiers are outrageously expensive (12 dollars each in the Five-Piece Set, but more than that if you pick them all up separately). In order to decide whether to purchase these items, you should You should know that these are icing on the cake when you're prospecting for gold- There is no need for fancy classifiers when panning for gold. reduce the time it takes to process more material (and I hope that having the same size material in your pan will help prevent you from washing your gold off with your tailings). The 5-piece set on the left is great (I bought the 6-piece set) This set contains 4 pieces. All screens in this set are stainless steel (not just the larger ones). When stacked, each pan stands about 1 3/4 in or higher than the previous one-- To stack them, I'd like them to look a little bit like this Stack these low for storage, medium/high for active use, or even better, have a couple of positions these can be stacked in (low profile for storage, medium/high for active use) - It's a bit of a hassle, but we have to work in it There are 5 standard-sized classifiers on all of the 5-inch phones Bucket - One gallon Simply pick up an old bucket and use it- Do not buy a bucket of air to save money. Please recommend this product to a friend.

The term gold mining does not mean only mining for gold
5/5

My chickens' food worms come in these tubs so that I can separate my larvae from my worms and my meal worms from my beetles. When I was growing up by the beach in sunny California, I never thought I'd ever say that, but I moved to Montana and now that's how it is. It is always an honor for me to raise natural food for my family, including bugs during the winter for my chickens. I love how they stack up perfectly and fit over the 5-inch cube The gallon bucket is emptied as I dump out a drawer full of, say, beetles so all their waste, eggs, and worms will In the next step, I gently shake each layer of sifting pans to catch the next biggest things. I continue to do this, separating the babies from the worms and beetles, until all the babies are caught. A piece of cake.

They bow up, rather than down, in the middle
3/5

The centers are impossible to obtain. A trip to the Crater of Diamonds state park was on my list of things to do. When you sluice, this material is forced to the middle, so when the sluices bow down, you bring a heavy material (Diamonds or Gold) They bow up rather than work, therefore they cannot do anything. It is worthless. Also, I was not the only one at the park with exactly the same set of glasses. It was the same problem for four of the people I spoke to. A couple of parking spots can be found on the drive in It takes about 3 minutes to get into the park from where they are sold. You can buy a real set if you go to the local store.

Sifting mealworms has never been easier! For mealworm, beetle and pupa sifting, these are perfect for using with a Home Depot bucket! Using the largest holed sifter, I inserted an acrylic 11" round pupae sifting tray from Space Coast Mealworms
5/5

It's so fun to use and is so cool to look at! It's fun and easy to sort the worms with this!.

It is worth your time and effort
5/5

The purpose of these was to sort seeds for my garden. I'm saving my heirloom varieties and have had trouble cleaning some seeds because they take a long time This item has been on my wishlist for months but I was discouraged by the price. Who pays $70 for seed sorting? In the end, I ended up with a credit for buying We were able to clean up some radish and beet seeds in no time. In the pan above the seed, the smaller debris fell to the bucket and the large debris caught in the pan above. It only took me a few rounds of winnowing to remove all the dirt from the It will save you a lot of time. A few days later, I went to buy some materials to mix seed starting mix, and I wondered if this set would work to sift my compost and garden soil enough to eliminate the purchase of specialty soils. As it turned out - it did the trick! Those sifting pans are just right! I've been using them on my garden for all sorts of things. These fit a 5 gallon bucket perfectly, and that is very convenient for height and for containing soil or seeds. This sifter has very sturdy metal, and even little sticks in the compost did not bend or corrupt it. Glad to be of service.
