I'd return it and buy an edger from almost any other brand. I bought one last summer and I kid you not, within the first 5 feet of edging the blade fell off and the nut broke off. You will not be able to justify the cost or effort of using this edger

The assembly was not that complex, with a bit of patience and a good mallet. It does work fine, but I am disappointed that after using it three times, the blade needs to be changed to prevent further damage. A blade that had never been used failed after a single use. The blade is of poor quality. I am not sure if I have a defective item or if what I have is a lemon. Looking forward to contacting manufacturer to find a remedy or at least answer some questions. Listed as updated. It is not possible to order replacement blades for this product. It is useless to have a warranty of three years. Having returned home.
In my mind, it was not a big deal & I just took it in stride. " I ordered a replacement right away. Today I assembled the new bolt, but the original broke a second time. In the process of taking photos, I took some pictures.
I used it the first time and it was fine, but after about 15 minutes it started to smoke and then it A fire broke out in the engine. We are returning it.
I broke the screw or bolt holding the blade to the machine on the very first spin of the blade. I received the kit on Tuesday, and it was put together and attempted to work on Saturday, June 8.
As far as I am concerned, it performed well when I used it once. Seeing that there is no cover over the blade makes me nervous, but hopefully will not be an issue. *I will update once I've used more and followed the assembly instructions.
I find the assembly instructions to be more brief than I expected.
I then had to install an invisible dog fence my wife wanted me to set up. In order to lay my wire, I cut a small trench with the edger. You will be surprised by what follows. When I had a free corner of my yard, I wanted Dynatrap to be situated. However, due to no electricity and no desire to dig and lay conduits, I did not do that. Having just the tool left, I could move forward. My beast of a machine created an uncanny trench and within a matter of minutes, I had conduit buried in it and now have a mosquito free back yard.
Having been unable to use my husband's large, heavy, and cumbersome power tools for years, I bought this edger for myself. The moment my husband saw it, he had to take it for a test drive. It was absolutely perfect for him, so wonderful that he nearly finished the driveway and sidewalk before The first day was the first time I didn't get to see it. I love it. However, I am okay with that. He likes it better than his big, heavy duty edger.
This edger has passed the "husbands" test in our household, and that's a big deal (and just great!). I appreciate it. I am so grateful to Scotts for coming up with a great product, and one that is easy to use by both husband and wife, without much effort or struggle. In our case, there is a larger, and longer driveway, so this is sufficient. This is my kind of.
I was not even able to do the job. My first attempt at using it broke the bolt holding the blade in place. It is inexpensive.
