The item I bought has not been used, so I return it. With a small 2 gallon shop vac you can do the same job for about the same price and in a cleaner manner.

My large Big Green Egg smoker uses a solid ash pan for catching the ashes I remove. I've used this pan four times now. The tray is easy to hold, sturdy, and is just the right size for sitting on top of the area where I collect ash from my smoker. In spite of this, after just two uses (removing ashes from 14 hours of use burnt with Big Green Egg brand natural lump charcoal and hickory wood chunks), two good-sized spots on the ash pan became discolored and uneven, as though the coating were I am not sure why the ash material showed signs of distress since it was well cooled prior to removal. There is a long-term concern in my mind This item is likely to remain viable for some time.
Amazon took it back and I am happy to see it As a result I returned it to get a full refund, instead of being charged a shipping fee. Firstly, it would not fit into the opening on my Big Green Egg, despite being advertised as fitting. Secondly, the dust pan is not covered with enamel, but rather with some sort of plastic mounding that was missing on one corner of the front edge of my unit. I considered it a useless piece of equipment because it was overpriced. Amazon took it back and I am happy to see it.
As far as I can tell, it works just as expected. Since the bottom of the egg curves up to the ash grate, the shovel doesn't fit perfectly onto the egg. It gets about 99% of the ash, but some spills out. Get the rake to go with it, since it is easy to use.
In addition to having no rough edges, a powder coat paint that is even, and a rounded edge that fits into the lower opening in the BGE, the piece is nicely formed This feature is very cool and useful. Using this tool I spent 5 minutes removing the ash and am happy to report that none of it ended up on the floor or in I was very pleased with the results! It would be an excellent idea to buy this tool through Amazon, particularly if it is on sale.
Ashes pans of this caliber are well made. This device has a downside because your temp adjuster has to fit through a 90 degree turn at the end of it. I found that the pan was too wide on my medium BGE. This does not affect its performance The recommendation would be for eggs up to a large size.
That I got for an old fireplace I had and it fit fairly well. Compared to what I expected, it's not that big. It is important to keep in mind that the handle is part of the overall length measurement. It's an effective way to catch the ash that falls, and it can be easily emptied The effort was well.
I found this to be an excellent fit for my Big Green Egg Large. The ash from my BGE was just raked into a pail when my BGE was in the "Nest". In spite of this, when I built an Egg table for it, I could not put a pail under the opening that the Egg had. The pan enabled me to rake the ash into it, and then dump it into the bucket. Exactly fits in the slot in the bottom of the track on the sliding door.
Definitely a well-made product. I think this would last for a long time, but it could be a little smaller on the front end to prevent so much ash from.
