Prior to using the tongs, I ordered a number of them so I could test the thickness, spring, locking mechanism, quality and feel of the metal. This set of tongs beat out every other tong in all of the categories here. It was even priced reasonably, which I didn't mind. It is thicker than most and the spring isn't too heavy so that I can grab food without difficulty, but at the same time still opens easily. The lock is smooth, the hinge isn't sloppy and I can comfortably use it. We assure you that you will see for yourself once you hold these. These are a great option to try out!.

It is good to finally meet a manufacturer who really stands by their "no brag just fact" slogan. As smokers and barbecue enthusiasts, my wife and I do a lot of BBQing. A 14 lb turkey and four cornish hens were smoked yesterday for family, friends, and gift giving (they will be vacuum sealed and frozen). I'm done with the brag now. I was able to easily pick up a large hen without falling and without damaging her (no slippage or injury to the hen) with just one hook. We did not encounter any problems with the tongs during our handling of the 14 lb turkey. With a few spatulas, I did not need to try the balance game. The others were either too long to hold or too fragile, or too delicate, or did not have enough silicone to prevent him from burning his hands. I really like these large tong ends. They are very solid and have excellent grips, as well as an extremely simple and easy to open locking mechanism. Bruising side for gentle touch, teething side for gripping and an edge that can also be used to roll items, corn / bread / dogs, etc. Tong ends are not heavily cupped as many are, but are larger and flatter for a better grip. The tongs are great.

Have passed the three click dads test, as well as lots of grilling and smoking With excellent grip on both sides, these tongs are of high quality. While the locking mechanism can be annoying, it doesn't take away from the greatness of the product.
