Questions & Answers

Is there a weight difference between the two bags?

Bag sizes range from 20 to 60 g A pound.

Compared to other retailers of this product, why is this more than twice as expensive?

It involves shipping. Despite its size, it is heavy in weight. The majority of that goes to UPS, FedEx, or other shipping companies. A store will buy several pallets at a time, and it will be more economical to ship that way. A bag at a time.

Can you tell me how big the charcoal lumps are?

As a result of its high carbonization, Rockwood is brittle and breaks down when agitated. In the same way as potato chips, these snacks are all screened at the plant, so you will find any small pieces and dust Therefore, the rate varies depending on how the carrier handles the goods. It is not a good idea to have large, dense chunks of "charcoal", despite what other brands advertise. Since they are still full of wood fiber and water, they are huge and dense. In a charcoal product sold by weight, any charcoal that can be easily broken apart by hand is of good quality. If you need a hammer to do this, you are actually paying for wood and water. If you're trying to find highly carbonized charcoal with large chunks, buying local is going to be your best bet.

What is the reason behind the double price difference between buying in the store and this online purchase? There is normally a $21 charge. I paid $7.00 for a bag weighing 20 pounds. Could you please clarify what I read?

It would be helpful if you could buy 20 pounds. A cost of $21 is included. You can buy it for $9.99!

You may not be able to get that much wood out of it
3/5

A little burnt, but nothing too bad In the first bag, there was a lot of broken up concrete. It didn't occur to me until I began on my second bag that the same thing was there. There were many about the size shown in the picture. The weight of these things was over five pounds after I pulled them out of the second bag. If you think this is ideal, that's fine, but it doesn't seem to make sense.

What is the purpose of this? I became suspicious after ordering this charcoal and seeing an online review
3/5

I decided not to return it, so I just used it anyway. Later, I found that I could've bought this at a brick and mortar store nearby for 20 bucks a bag instead of this inflated price. Based on my use of 1 and a half of the three bags I ordered, I have come to the following conclusions 1) This charcoal emits a lot of smoke when it's lit. In addition, it sparks, pops, tingles, and lights up. long and doesn't create a significantly hot fire. It begs the question of why it exists? It doesn't support long smokes and takes too much coal and time to produce the conditions for searing to happen. The niche is there. had no problems smoking a good number of chocolate bars as a result of the low heat and short life of a small amount of coal. We had a great time eating the chocolate Although I was not smoking chocolate for the first time, it was easy not to melt them when using 3) Too much space. Compared to the regular brand I use, these coals weigh 15 pounds less per bag. In this case, you're getting almost two bags for the price of There is a density difference between these coals and other If you use your rotisserie a lot like I do, that means more coals need to be added, more ash will accumulate, and you'll have to use less real estate. 3. a) In addition to its low density, coal burns at high temperatures as a result of its low density. It makes sense that there would be limited air circulation and less surface area within the coals to feed the fire. 4) what doesn't make sense are the two stones which are not related The first bag contained material that reminded me of pieces of cloth. wasn't able to find it until after the burn when I was clearing the ashes for the cook after me. Thus, I'm sure whatever this is has imparted itself into my food in some way. Finished the first bag, looking forward to working on the next one. If I'm not using it, I might donate it and go back to what I'm using now. Update It was possible for me to give my neighbor the entire, unopened bag. In the process, he was using briquettes of quick light charcoal, which contained all kinds of chemicals. This is disgusting! No matter how bad a natural lump may be, it will always be better than a chemical one Briquettes that have been saturated with oil. The other half of my bag I was able to give to my buddy who I gave an electric smoker to My son has caught the smoking bug, so I'm gradually getting him to switch to In order to increase the longevity of his electricity smoked meats, he uses a tiny amount of charcoal as well as his smoking wood. The results are great!.

I didn't even eat turkey burgers because they didn't last long enough
3/5

Seeing that this charcoal is made from reclaimed scrap wood and no trees are cut down to create it made me want to like It's a complete waste of time. As soon as I turned it on, it heated up quick, but afterwards it cooled down almost as quick. After 10 minutes, I could hold my hand over the grill without getting burned. My turkey burgers were not completely cooked through because the heat did not last long enough. The smaller beef burgers were cooked in this oven twice as long as normal and it took 5 full minutes to melt the cheese on them! Both the charcoal and the wood did not burn well. In the ash, there are still a few pieces of black charcoal. In this case, the purchase is not worth it, as I will likely use it to grill up some hotdogs or prepare a salad.

Quite a bit of sparking My small grill comes with an open flame and guests sit around it
3/5

I bought this hardwood charcoal. There were fewer comments about hardwood charcoal, which I needed to sit close by for my guest-house. In the course of getting hot, turning gray and generating lots of sparks, this product starts shooting out sparks that can extend up to 36 inches. After the coals had turned gray, we would no longer be able to handle it. After the coals have turned gray, they will not spark or pop anymore. I can see how this is a great product for a closed-top grill, but you might have trouble if you have a small grill without one.

The product will not be purchased The vast majority of each bag consists of small chunks of meat
3/5

Is quick to burn out. I only ran the BGE full load for about four hours at 275 degrees. Approximately 5 hours. To finish the nice butt, I had to heat it in the I think there are about 15 total in the whole bag)
The "zipper" cord is tied off multiple times at the This is a huge PITA to open.

In two of the last three bags, I found a lot of dust and not a lot of large pieces of charcoal.

An outstanding performance
3/5

This was edited The quality of this product hasn't improved after eight bags, and I'm sad to report that the trend continues. More rocks are coming out, which isn't so great, but this bag has a piece of what looks like asphalt in it, and a piece of wire. The quality should be much better at that price. As I move forward, I leave you behind. This charcoal is now my favorite due to its durability and ability to burn through 60 lbs rather quickly. A second order of 60 pounds has been placed! I'd prefer to see fewer smaller pieces, but I believe that's mainly due to the shipping process, as I am a long way from where the items are made.
