Questions & Answers

It looks to be made of wood, but what type is it?

It was awful, but if I had to say, I wouldn't say I liked it. As a result, it burns very fast. Briquettes are my preferred method of cooking because they produce a controlled heat and have My wood stove was started with the leftover wood that I used as kindling after having tried the stuff two or three times. I believe that it was a complete waste of money.

This could be used to grill tailgating on a portable grill?

Using a charcoal grill is fine as long as it's clean. There are no flames from this charcoal &amp it burns hotter The charcoal in Kingsford Brickett lasts much longer.

When you light lump charcoal, how do you do it?

Lighter fluid should not be used. It was a solid fire starter that I used. In order to heat up the charcoal quicker, I found that I must place two grate burners in different areas. In the recent past, I have started using Bison A faster way to light it is to use an Airlighter.

I am so disappointed in this product! I would advise you not to buy! Once lit, it is almost impossible to light
3/5

It smells horrible when it burns, and it is hard to light once it's lit. There is a strong odor of coal burning, similar to what you would smell from burning wood. As a result, the food is infused with that flavor. As I grilled a steak, it smelled so bad I wasn't about to eat it. It was delicious, from the sounds of it, but I threw it away and went out to eat. There is a popping sound as if there is a lot of moisture in this stuff. There are no coals, but rather wood chunks that look like they came from a campfire. The product is poor quality and I won't buy it again!.

In my opinion, the 20 pound bag is a good value and I use it regularly
4/5

This charcoal is of good quality and burns completely leaving a very small amount of ash behind. As it burns in the chimney starter, the starting agent crackles, pops, and emits a lot of sparks. In addition to heating my smoker, I use mine as a heater. that you can reuse used paper towels by putting them in a soup can with an opening, and then pouring used fry oil over them - these paper towels make excellent charcoal starters underneath the fireplace The flavor of fuel oil does not transfer to the pan like when using a charcoal lighter, and it gives you the option to use pan drippings. There are some very large pieces of coal in the lump charcoal, clearly limbs and branches, that may be difficult to fit As far as the smaller pieces go, there is also a control issue, as the last bag I got was filled with lots of pieces smaller than a quarter. Several of these pieces fall through the starter, so if you pour from the bag you will have a lot of pieces that fall Overall, large pieces are more advantageous than small ones because there is the possibility to break them into more manageable sizes, or use them as they are to provide a longer lasting warmth. Keeping a hot smoking fire for a long period is important when fattier cuts of meat are being smoked. Bulk charcoal can be made up of medium sized pieces, but these tend to cost more per pound than large pieces of charcoal. It is nice to find charcoal in a 20 pound bag, as it is adequate for cooking large cuts of meat, or more than enough for cooking many smaller cuts. There is a consistency in the size of the lumps throughout the bag that would make this a 5 star product. Basically, I’d like to give this a 4 instead of a 5 because of that reason. As most lump charcoal sold has smaller pieces than are found with this brand, a bag full of all the large pieces would be perfect for me. It's a fairly good bargain for the cost. Since it comes packaged inside an external box, I have never received a bag in any damaged condition up to this point, and I have used this brand for many years.

This is where we will go There are a couple of other brands I have tried
4/5

There were parts of this movie that I didn't care for. Charcoal with a cowboy flavor is good for nearly everything. Having the pieces large and burning for a long time is great. Despite smoking for twelve hours, I did not run out of fuel. It seems to be a really good brand for most things, although I haven't tried all of them.

As good as it gets
5/5

Exceptional quality for a long time. Since I started using this product 7 seasons ago, this has become a staple in my life. For my Lang smoker and Weber grill, I use it as a way to get things going. As a result, the product provides long-lasting heat in both cases. I am able to maintain a consistent heat with it since it creates a good bed of coals. I find it to be very useful when I am smoking meats low and slow at a consistent 215 - 250 F At 225 degrees, it is very warm. Every time I put another log on the fire, the coals ignite again instantly. Grilling on my Weber is quick and easy because I can get the temperature up to 450 degrees For grilling steaks, heat the grill to 500 degrees and keep it there. I'm very happy with the.

The smell and taste were awful, the chunks were of poor quality, the heat was good, and the ash was low
3/5

The charcoal I bought produces minimal ash while maintaining good heat, so that was appealing to me. Although this was true, the other thing that I could not get past was the smell and the flavor that had been imparted I got most of what I got in my bag in the form of powder, which reminded me of asphalt. The next time I spend my money, I will go for another option.

It is dangerous and unsafe
3/5

It is not recommended to consume this charcoal. In a chimney, it produces a lot of ash and embers as it prepares to burn. I have been grilling for decades and used a lot of lump charcoal, but it left a thin layer of black ash on my grill surface and floor. An ember flew out and burned a hole in my favorite workout shirt. There is a need for this mix.

It makes good food, but the lump sizes are different and the price has risen to a 2x+ price increase
3/5

We purchased this 20 pound bag in October 2014 when it was One pound has a cost of $70. The price increased by more than double when I went back to reorder early November The reason why is unknown. While I had no issue with the overall quality of the charcoal and the taste of the food, the lump size was all over the place when I used it for searing steaks and low/slow smoking The pieces will be around 7 large In the same way as As a result, there are three It is rated as five stars. After the price change, I searched elsewhere for a good deal that was high quality and low-priced, and actually found a lump charcoal product for $0. 01 at my local hardware store. The price per pound is 70 cents In this case, internet costs were not cheaper than in the past. But who knows, maybe low prices will change after Cowboy corporate reads this review.
