I messed up. In the end, and after apologizing to everyone, we gave it one more chance with natural coal, and starters prepared to quit as soon as it became too smokey, but OMG this was just what we were looking It was amazing how the amazing fire starter maintained a low flame for over 30 minutes, and the coals lit quickly and burned very Although I thought we had used too little coal, we were able to cook a chicken breast, a flank steak, three hot dogs, two veggie skewers and a chicken leg with barely any coal left over. I loved the taste of the food and the cleanness of it. Cooking for the summer is now safe! My next workplace barbecue will be a bbq with some of these and I hope to impress everyone. I would highly recommend this product.
The Primo Oval grill is what I use to cook this. Lighting is easy and it lasts long. I've even been able to use it more than once due to the grill's ability to shut off the process when it's not in use.
I am buying charcoal for the first time, and so far have not been pleased. This is the first time I have ever seen charcoal spark so much and it is a little annoying However, after 20 minutes or so, it settles down enough for me to cook with, but I would not purchase.
Having dug up charcoal from the bottom of a pallet fire, I found pieces the size of dice along with twigs, sticks, and other organic objects. There was no lump in it.
The charcoal is very poppyy, and there are lots of crumbs on the surface. The majority of the charcoal would have fallen out of my chimney if I had not created a bottom mesh from expanded metal.
