No need to use lighter fluid for this charcoal. The meat is delicious when it has this flavor.
It is one of the best charcoal lumps I have ever used. It is natural mesquite wood and lasts long.
Do not try at all. This is not just a look-at-me light. This is insane. I started off okay, but my pieces suddenly began to go out 30 minutes into the burn. It should be able to run on its own after about 30 minutes of being lit. I have never struggled with charcoal like I am with this, so I have no idea what those other people are referring to.
Any food you cook with this charcoal will have a rich, but clean flavor of mesquite. They tend to look more like small logs than briquettes at times. Use a hammer to break up larger ones in a charcoal starter so that heat can be more easily spread. Paper towels soaked in cheap cooking oil are used to light starter from below. It is a good idea to shake the starter every now and then to create more oxygen in the space between.
Does not burn efficiently, stays lit, would love to find more, but you MUST BE KIDDING, I am not going to pay $16 shipping!.
