It's similar to a chimney starter in that it's used to light a fire. Simply place it in the coals pile and ensure that it has sufficient airflow to burn. This is an amazing product! It will be light whether wet or dry.

I believe you should approach the airline with your questions.
I believe the manufacturer is implying that these squares will light even if they become damp or wet, such as during a camping trip. They are lit with a match or a butane fire starter, but they are not required to be wet to be used.

November of this year. The first order wowed me so much that I made it a point to tell all of my family and friends about it. br>br>The second order was disappointing in that it did not seem to be as effective in starting the fire (almost like it was an old batch that had lost its kick), and I noticed that the scoring stamped on each block to make the sections tear off easier on the first batch was very definite, but the scoring was very faint on the second batch. It's not a big deal because it's easy to tear apart, but it's another difference between the two batches. I like the product and plan to order another batch in the hopes of getting the same quality as the first, but if not, I will not be purchasing it again. I'm not one to write negative reviews on purpose, but the two batches were so dissimilar that I felt compelled to share them.
Before we went camping, it had been pouring for at least three weeks. There was a lot of it. We were aware that the trip would most likely be without fire. However, it was only because of these small squares that we had a fire. They were kept lit long enough for the smaller pieces of wood to dry. This gave the rest of the team enough time to push the moisture out of the wood. There's nothing quite like watching water bubble up from a campfire.
Because the squares are so small, I was a little skeptical when I first got them. We're used to Fire Starter bricks, which are much larger. The small square ignited instantly and burned hot and long enough to easily light the logs. I'm overjoyed and relieved to have discovered this alternative.
It's what I use in a BGE. These starters are a fraction of the price of other brands while providing the same level of quality.
In the wood stove, it's very simple to use. They ignite tinder and wood quickly by lighting and maintaining a flame. (I always place bark or small pieces of wood between the fire starters and the bottom of the wood stove because I'm aware that some products, such as pressed logs with paraffin, can generate heat intense enough to damage the metal fire box. ) Because these are so small, I'm not sure about their potential for harm; however, it's always a good idea to be cautious.
These were purchased to aid in the lighting of small fires in our outdoor fire pit. Previously, news paper was used. but well. Where do you find paper these days? When using the right kind of wood, one or two of these squares will do the trick. It may take several of these to get it going if you're using crappy wood (from my own downed trees). That is more my fault because the wood was not properly split or dried/seasoned. - br>br>- br>br>- br>br>- br There is no odor before or after usebr> - It produces more ash than I anticipated, but it does not flake or blow around badly. br> - Generally, lights are turned on within 2 hours. 3 seconds in the presence of flamebr> - 10'ish minutes of burn time We haven't used these to start charcoal for cooking yet, so we can't really say if any flavors are present or not. br>br>We haven't used these to start charcoal for cooking yet, so we can't say if any flavors are present or not.
I bought these as a single purchase to give them a try because I recently bought my first house and it has a fireplace, but I was having trouble getting any fire started in it (most people said it was because of the cold plug in the chimney and that I just had to get the fire really hot but then keep it going for a while after the plug was gone). I could get my first started with lots of paper to get it really hot, but the wood wouldn't catch because the papers burned up to quark. Now, I'll be honest, a lot of reviews claim that you can start your wood with just one block. I'm not sure if they have the world's driest wood or what, but depending on how many pieces of wood I try to pile in, it takes me 3 to 4 minutes. However, it aids in the ignition of the fire, which will be very hot!.
