It's 7. It measures 5" wide by 6" long. Outward 5" from the fascia The output can go straight down or back under the eaves. When in the back position, the distance between the top of the mounting flange and the center of the output is 8. 25". br>It was a little difficult to connect. In Hawaii, 3" PVC is used in the majority of our systems. To create a tight fit into the output, I had to add a coupling to the pipe and then some Teflon plumbing tape.
On mesh, 1/32" or 995 micron aperture. Mosquito repellent.
We don't have pine needles here, but we do have a lot of regular leaves and redwood leaves (which are somewhat pointed like pine needles) and they seem to be doing fine.br>I think I clean them off once a year, which is fine with me.
I only have this, and it serves me well. br>I suppose you'd have to clean it off if there was a lot of debris on it, but it's a pretty tough screen. br>I have proven to be extremely beneficial to myself.

The design is dreadful. Because the sizing isn't standard in the United States, you'll have to do some clumsy retrofitting to get it to work with 3" pvc. To compensate for the proprietary sizing of this leaf filter, you should purchase the 4" version and then a rubber 4" to 3" reducer with hose clamps from Home Depot. Good luck.
Keeping organic matter out of our catchment tank is going well. The only issue is that the metric/imperial adapter is designed for schedule 40 piping only. Residential rain leaders in Hawaii are typically made out of white drain piping. br>The best thing you can do is:
1. Remove the adapter and discard it.
2. Make four 1" deep cuts across the center of your drain pipe and eight 1" deep cuts around the pipe's circumference with a hack saw. br>3. The metric end of the bowl outlet should be treated the same way.
4. Press the pipe into the Leaf eater's metric opening by compressing the pipe end and expanding the bowl outlet.
5. To seal the joint, wrap it in PVC tape. br>Excellent at what it does.
This downspout filter did a fantastic job.
- Sizebr>These are larger than I expected, which I suppose is better for collecting water and for the one 6" downspout I have. br>I'll eventually paint them to make them less visible.
- We have had several recent heavy rains and it is able to handle 99% of the water coming down the downspouts. There is some minor "splashing" but it is nothing compared This is perfectly acceptable.
- Leavesbr>Because we live in a densely forested area, there are a lot of leaves that fall with the rain. So far, there hasn't been any blockage, and it's self-clearing beautifully. The residue could be washed away, but I'm not bothered by it. br>br>Product with a 5-star rating.
This fitting is unlikely to be found in most hardware stores! I see the main issue now that I've received this rain catcher. Except for the 4" (4-inch) (4-inch) (4-inch) (4-inch) (4-inch) (4-inch) (4-inch) (4-inch) (4-inch) (4-inch) (4-inch) 1/2") o. main fitting (as depicted in the illustration) So, if you're going to buy this, I got a 4" x 2" slip by threaded PVC Bushing, but a 4 by 2 slip bushing is also available. I just wanted the option to unthread it if I ever needed to replace it due to UV damage after a few years. So, ehhhh, it's ok in the end.
It's not as big as I expected. (It's about the size of a shoe box. ) However, it is quite effective. br>br>I collect the water in a 300 gallon tank, and it appears that this little device filters it quite well. The self-cleaning feature also works well, and it can even filter out the tiny little seeds that float through the air in the form of white fluff balls. That's a squeaky-clean screen there! br>br>The unit is simple to clean, though it isn't necessary very often because it does a good job of removing debris from the screen on its own. br>br>With mine, I'm very pleased. a few dollars well spent br>br>PERFORMANCE UPDATE: PERFORMANCE UPDATE: PERFORMANCE UPDATE: PERFORMANCE UPDATE: A major storm cell passed over us this afternoon (July 8, 2013), dropping 3/4 inch of rain in less than 10 minutes! That was the most intense downpour I'd seen in a long time, and I put on my rain coat to check my little gutter filter, which was working perfectly! The gutters were overflowing! My Leaf Eater was keeping up with everything the downspout could throw at it, despite the fact that the water was still flowing. 5 Stars!.
It's very simple to clean; with these filters, I was able to filter out the dust, bugs, and other debris that was entering the rainwater tank directly. br>The only problem was that it didn't fit the local pipe sizes (I'm using it in Colombia), so I had to use a lathe to adjust it, and it fit perfectly after that.
The product is excellent. It's nearly impossible to find something that fits the bottom. To make it work, I had to improvise. br>The end result is neither attractive nor practical. br>Finally, the description states that the coupling can be found at any home center at the time of publication. I went to four different local home improvement stores and all of them said the opposite.
We live on the water we collect from the roof here in Hawaii. These harvesting filters do a fantastic job! They're a pain to put together, and they require an extra adapter to fit existing 3" drain pipes, but the effort is well worth it! The Amazon Prime service - Shipping is completely free. has proven to be well worth the money. Purchase these if you require excellent pre-filtration and are unconcerned about installation. Remember to paint them, too.
