It's been a long time since I set this up, but I don't believe the spigot needs to be installed from the inside. You can easily get inside, but you won't be able to reach the spigot because you won't be able to reach far enough down. I'm pretty sure it only connects from the outside.

Surprisingly, the garden hose adaptor that comes with this well-made product surprised me. Spigot was constructed - It will not work with a standard hose. br>I came to the realization that there was a problem: A smooth (unthreaded) 1/16th section runs along both ends of this adaptor. I clamped the adaptor in a vise and cut off the smooth section down to the threads with a hack saw. It now functions properly.
I wish it could be threaded so that the outside is flush with the barrel and the excess thread is on the inside. br>br>I've also seen a lot of complaints about using this with a garden hose. The threaded connector on this valve is NPT, whereas the GHT thread on a standard garden hose is GHT. The seller's description of it being hose friendly is incorrect. Everything will work properly if you use an NPT to GHT adaptor.
Beware. You will not receive a garden hose adaptable part, as the photos and description do not correspond to what is received. I requested a partial refund so that I could locate the necessary components to make this bulkhead function properly. So far, I have not received any response. This is a problem that has been mentioned in other reviews.
The male adapter is exactly what it sounds like - it's a male adapter. I'm not sure how well it'll connect to a garden hose because it's male pipe thread to male pipe thread, not garden hose thread. br>br>Otherwise, it works fine, with no leaks (teflon tape is used). And you only need an inside gasket; you don't need one on the outside. br>br>I chose PVC because I read that thermal expansion helps keep it leak-free. However, in hindsight, I wish I had spent a few dollars more and purchased the one-piece brass ball valve.
This item is a complete waste of money. Even with a large wrench, turning the threaded nut and threaded fitting would be difficult.
For me, it was a huge success. As stated in another posting, you do not need to change it. It worked flawlessly without any modifications. To keep it tight, I recommend using a lot of clear silicone.
The product is exactly what it says it is, and it appears to be of high quality. I had the same experience as others, in that the "hose adapter" is nothing more than a 3/4 male nipple.
This was added to a kiddie pool so that I wouldn't have to break it trying to drain the water. Everything is in order.
