All the other pieces were worth the money. Originally, I wanted the rain barrel to be installed where the downspout was 2x3, but I changed my mind and the downspout became 3x4 instead. I was concerned that the insert would not be as efficient, but that was not the case, because even after just one use I collected a substantial amount of rain water. Installing this device was very simple, and the product appears to be very well constructed. saw the comments that the directions were not provided, so I took photos of my directions rather than just type them. It would be great if they could assist me.

As the instructions are a bit vague, you should ideally have the outlet from the downspouts just slightly increased (1/2 inch) over the rain barrel inlet. If the barrel fills up to just above the inlet, the water would back up in the connector and prevent any more water from coming in, thus sending any remaining water down the gutter. My order for the third connector comes in tomorrow. It has worked well on two barrels to date. If you use this method, you will have much less trouble dealing with overflowing rain barrels, and you can enclosure the barrel so mosquitoes do not set up housekeeping in all that standing water.

The installation is easy, and there are clear directions to follow. While the product performs as promised, small leaves, maple seeds, etc will clog it up over time. I just bought two decorative fifty gallon barrels, which I intend to use as rainwater collection systems. The diverter was the best solution since I didn't want to do a lot of cutting on the gutter and have large hoses visible. During the installation process, it took me less than 30 minutes and most of that time was spent double and triple checking where I intended In my back garden, I have the large downspout that is 3" x 4". I put it on the side that is 3" and I was worried that it would not collect enough water, but I filled both barrels of water with off and on showers in two days.

Due to the fact that I wanted to get the rain barrels setup and the diverter I purchased in the past was out of stock, I purchased two of these kits. I would have been better served by waiting. Several days after installing the first diverter, I discovered that water is leaking down the outside of the downspout where the diverter is attached. Not all of it is sealed tightly. As it is your responsibility to remove the diverter for winterizing, this is only going to make it.
