The system seems to be working. I just put it in the rain, and I'm hoping it'll last. Louisiana, where we often get torrential rains, can only catch a small amount of the rain. Getting the hang of how it works was fairly simple once I figured out the instructions. However, I was disappointed to find the directions in the smallest typeface I've The print quality got really poor where they were printed, and I had to pull out a magnifying glass to see them, even though I have perfect vision after my recent eye exam. Furthermore, these directions clearly stated that the downspout had to be square in shape and was very specific about this fact "the downspout must be rectangular in shape and should be no larger than 2 x 3 or 3 x 4". There is no such thing as a conspiracy. In fact, I bought a kit On the RainBarrelParts website, I found the part I needed after some searching. I found directions for a rectangular downspout (still only in pdf format) that were easier to read on www. com. There is also an image on the company website showing that the installation is basically the same for round downspouts the only difference is the shape of the Flexifit diverter that goes inside. Even so, I hesitated to attempt a completely successful installation before I was sure I had everything I needed, including cutting holes into my barrel and downspout. The process worked out fine in the end, but if the instructions had been more clear, it would have been much more straightforward.
As an Amazon customer, I obtained this diverter to save a few bucks on shipping as compared to buying it from their website. This diverter works well, has a lot of innovation, and is a more simple plug-and-play solution As a result, I anticipate ordering from this company again in the future. However, here are some points to note It might not be the best seal to use the diverter rubber gasket. Silicone caulk was used to fix the problem, now it works as it should. I would suggest purchasing a separate hole saw for the gutter hole since the hole saws included have fairly large teeth. Cutting through metal (I have a round 4-inch gutter) also isn't the easiest.
Since I am a female, and I do not have much handyman experience, I installed it I have had no issues with it. The only complaint I have is that I have zero. I have a rain barrel that diverts water down the downspout when it is full. I highly recommend this book!.
When we received a rain barrel, my excitement significantly decreased as I discovered that connecting it to our round downspout (which is what we have) is extremely difficult. The kit was easy to install and it works well (no leaks or overflows).
The rest is up to you. Unfortunately, the kit did not exactly fit the rain barrel I own, and the spout piece did not stay on. Apart from that, all parts were shipped and they work well.
I'd have given this a higher rating but the hole saw bent and I had to use my own. The instructions were not included also.
