This is a question I have yet to be able to answer. It's only recently been opened because it's outgrown the container. Tomorrow, I'll transplant it and see how it grows. I believe it is now too small to eat large flies, but it might be able to handle a fruit fly or two.br> I have had flytraps in the past, and they did attract flies, and they also seem to enjoy hamburger.

For two months, I grew it in a fluorescent tube. The gel liquefied as a result of the heat. I saved the gel liquid when I opened it, rotated the bottle until the roots were "UP," and then pulled them out with a hemostat - slowly. Twist and wiggle are two words that come to mind when thinking about twisting and Don't worry about slicing this up - it'll be fine. These are mericlones, and I believe there are eight of them in total. In each bottle, there are 12 "plantlets." In a 3" pot, plant small bunches. The black root is planted in coir husks in a rainwater-soaked pot under the fluorescents, and the majority of them have survived. To acclimate them, I covered them for a while.
I used a pair of needle-nosed tweezers to do it. It was a huge success. You may notice some breakage on the plant at first if you've allowed it to grow exponentially into the jar, but it will recover if you trim those sections and care for it as it adjusts to its new environment.

I knew I'd enjoy it, but I didn't realize how much! I'm the "mom" of three full-time children. It's amazing to see this baby Venus fly trap in its early stages of development. I'm enthralled by the tiny but perfectly formed traps, similar to how I'm enthralled by a newborn infant's tiny fingernails. I'm excited to see how it develops. After 6 months in the bottle, the baby was transplanted into a pot and looked like this. As you can see, it's growing into a beautiful adult plant.
It's a bit of a squander of cash - The gel had clearly warmed up during shipping, and the inside of the container was a shambles. The plant is upside down in the jar, roots in the air, due to its top-heavy nature. I'm not sure how it'll work out in real life, but it's a disaster on the surface. It was only $8, thankfully. Maybe wait until the fall to order, but I'm not sure how this would survive shipping if it was bounced around a lot. br>br>Update 07/24/2017: After my one-on-one meeting with the manufacturer, I received a call. begin an investigation and offer to replace the plant for free. The replacement arrived in perfect condition, so I'm changing my review and adding more stars for the prompt and excellent customer service; it would have been better if the first one had arrived in good condition, but I'm glad they stepped up.
It was fantastic until I had to take it out of the glass. When I removed everything, it all died almost instantly. There are no instructions for removing the plant or caring for it afterward, and the advice I found online for this lovely plant also failed me. The glass is poorly designed because, despite the fact that the plant grows well and fills the interior, it is nearly impossible to remove it through the small opening. The other option would have been to shatter the glass, which would have caused damage to the plant as well as an unwelcome and dangerous mess. My children and I were ecstatic to see it grow, and we were heartbroken when it died. I recommend that the creator place these plants in a small glass jar with an opening that is the same size as the base and include after-care instructions. care.
My plant is growing mold inside! My father's plant arrived in perfect condition, whereas mine arrived with damaged gel and has not grown. The first two photos are of my father's plant, while the third and fourth photos are of mine (with mold and damaged gel). EDIT: br>br> Orchid Gene contacted me the same day I wrote this review and sent me a replacement at no cost! The photos have been replaced with an image of my new plant, which is fantastic customer service!.
It's stunning! I bought this as a Christmas present for my brother and his wife; my brother has wanted a Venus fly trap since we were children, and he was ecstatic when I found one for him! We reordered after the first one arrived looking sad and showing no signs of progress, as the seller stated that they understand damage can occur during shipping and are willing to replace plants that do not thrive as expected. That's exactly what they did, and this new little guy is off to a fantastic start!! I'm excited to watch him mature. It's such a unique gift, and it earned me a lot of brownie points. The plant comes with detailed instructions on how to care for it as well as information on the various environmental factors that affect its growth. Fantastic product from a fantastic company that appears to value customer satisfaction and quality. Also, the shipping was quick!.
This is a fantastic plant with a lovely display container. These came in two sizes, which I bought! Makes a great addition to any room or miniature collection.
My teeny-tiny plant is thriving! It arrived exactly as described, small but oh-so-adorable! I keep it in a bay window with other plants in indirect natural bright light, and it seems to enjoy it. br>br>Edit: It's now been through a few colder days in the window, as well as a little too much sun at times, but it's still doing well. Although there are some dead areas, the middle and many areas are still a vibrant, healthy green.
