Questions & Answers
The climate has a big impact on your plant soil. If you live in a humid climate, you'll need a soil that drains more quickly than if you live in a hot, dry climate like Arizona or California. I live in Georgia, where the weather is hot and humid. My succulent soil is 50/50 for succulents and my mesembs and cactus are more like 90% grit and 2010% soil for mesembs and cactus is more like 90% grit% For my gritty mixture, I combine pumice, Turface MVP, decomposed granite, gravel, and course sand. One of those can also be done with perlite. Before you start, make sure you clean all of your grit.
No, we use them for blueberries, and I'm using them to raise the acidity of the soil. I added it last fall, and I'll have to see how effective it was this year.
I've never used it for miniature roses, but I do use it on all of my container roses. Because it hasn't been composted, you'll need to use fertilizer with a higher nitrogen content to compensate for what the bark is using to age.
The product is the same, but the bag size is different.

I've never purchased or used bark fines before. I bought it so that I could make Al's 5: 1 (fine pine bark:peat: peat: peat: peat: peat: peat: peat: I didn't realize the bark of 5: perlite) mix until later. The number one should be a gradient, and only the number one should be used: 1 (bark: turface: grit) should be about a quarter of an inch thick. The product is of sufficient size and cleanliness. br>br>However, the price is prohibitive. There was only one pot in which I could plant. If I had a lot, I'd probably look for another source or do my own screening.
They are the perfect size, texture, and color. I'm a horticulturist, so I need small bark for special potting blends. If you're looking for some unique plants, a terrarium, or a reptile enclosure, this is the place to go. These are of good quality and appear to be in good condition. If you need to make large batches of potting medium, however, This is way out of my price range. Bonsai Jack gets high marks from me because of his consistent high-quality products. For the quantity I require, I'll most likely have to return to the time-consuming and labor-intensive process of composting and milling my own.
Although the price is a little high, they are of excellent quality. I used this product to make my own soil mix. It also includes a metal chopstick for planting. I used to work in a Japanese restaurant, and the chopsticks provided are of good quality (though they only come with one, so you'll need to buy two bags if you want to clean and reuse them for food). This item also includes a pH testing strip, which is essential when planting any type of plant!.
Ordered 2 gallons, which arrived in two 1 gallon bags (perfect for freshness!). ) and a metal chopstick for gently separating roots, along with a humorous note explaining why a chopstick is such an important tool in plant care. There was also a large bag tie to keep the opened bag well sealed and prevent spillage. I was very pleased with my purchase and the extra items were very thoughtful. Jack, I appreciate your help.
You won't be able to get pure bark. This is fantastic. Even at the English Garden store, you won't be able to find bark (pure bark, not shredded wood) ground into such small pieces. This is what I put in every potted plant that requires a lot of drainage. MAN is a master at making things work.
I needed pathogen-free pine bark bits of a specific size that were free of dust and micro bits to use in the substrate for Malaysian Begonia species that are extremely rare and difficult to grow. This item appears to be in good condition. I am very happy with my purchase.
And I really mean it. I rarely give 5-star ratings. I didn't just give it five stars; I actually counted the little barks. I couldn't find any that were more than a quarter inch thick. Bark and fine amendments for medium bonsai are extremely difficult to come by. I wish I could have purchased a gallon, but I'm sure my bonsai society will be happy to share. br>br> I wish I could have purchased a gallon, but I'm sure my bonsai society will be happy to share. =Dbr>br>Thank you!.
This was ordered for a bonsai soil mix, and it arrived quickly with no issues with the pine bark. Pieces were 1/4 inch as advertised, dust/sediment was minimal, if present at all (I didn't notice any), and I was pleased that it had already been sifted. After repotting the bonsai, the bark blends well with the lava rock. There are no issues.
