Questions & Answers

Is this denser than water or less so? Is it a floater or a sinker?

That is a question for which I have no answer. All I did was place it in the bottom of my pot, then fill it with dirt and my plant. It provides more space for the roots to expand.

My bag comes in a variety of shapes and sizes. Is it safe to use now?

Yes, you can still use it. Our Gravel does not all have the same appearance. Some of the items in your bag will have a little more personality than others. Please do not be concerned. The variety of sizes and shapes is ideal for drainage. We like to say that recycled materials aren't all that bad!

How much Arqlite will I need for multiple pots?

Hello there, the bag is quite substantial. Regardless of the size of the pot, I like to fill it halfway. a half-inch thick layer of this stuff I made seven 6-foot tables out of this bag. pots with a diameter of 4 inches and approximately 10 pots with a diameter of 4 inches succulent pots with an inch diameter

This is a question for the vendor: I just got the bag, and it smells awful (chemical/burned). What is the source of the foul odor? Is it protected from harm?

Did you buy a used one of this product because it can be reused? That is a possibility from time to time. Despite the fact that it appeared to be spotless and odorless, I washed it. If the seller does not respond, I would contact Amazon, or I believe there is an option to contact the seller if you have not already done so when you go into your orders. Ask if you can boil it; that's what I'd do, and it's what you should do if you want to use it for another plant.

It's more practical, lighter, and better for the environment
5/5

This is an excellent gravel substitute. I'm always looking for ways to make my lifestyle more sustainable, so when I came across this, I was eager to put it to the test in my garden. I put it in the bottoms of my pots to aid drainage and make them easier to move around. It has been extremely beneficial, particularly for my mother, who enjoys moving things around but suffers from back problems. My plants are doing well so far, and I'm looking forward to experimenting with this product in the spring and summer. It's convenient and satisfying to use recycled materials in my gardening! This season, I'm going to buy a lot more.

It has a cute appearance and appears to be effective at keeping gnats at bay
5/5

I bought a 1 gallon bag in the standard size. In hindsight, I wish I had taken the 1. I needed more than 5 cubic feet to cover the surface of about five pots, so I went with 5 cubic feet. br>br>At first, I planned to line the bottom of my citrus tree pot to improve drainage and combat fungus gnats. Then I learned that lining the bottom of your pot with a layer of newspaper doesn't actually help with drainage. Because, regardless of what lies beneath it, the bottom of your soil mass will always retain water. Rather than adding gravel, I simply removed the excess soil. Then I decided to line the tops of my plants to keep fungus gnats and fruit flies from nesting in the soil. Returning to the gravel, br>br> br>br>At first, I wanted the mini size, but it wasn't available for quick shipping, so I settled for the regular. I was worried that it wouldn't cover the top well enough to keep the gnats out, but after pouring it in, it appears to be a good fit. And I prefer the large size because it will be easier to remove when I repot it later. br>br>I also like the gravel. It appears to have improved the appearance of one of my pots with a lot of exposed soil. br>br>Overall, I believe this is a fantastic alternative to gravel or sand, as it appears to allow for more air flow. Its best feature is how light it is. It's also fantastic to find a use for recycled plastic. This product is fantastic, and I'm glad I came across it.

It's fine, but it's worth considering
3/5

Okay, so I don't have a problem with the quality of this product, but it's something I didn't consider when deciding between the regular and the mini. . . if you're looking to use these at the bottom of a pot with a small drainage hole, you'll want to get the regular. An attached saucer. . . You'll need some kind of mesh to keep the pebbles from clogging the drainage hole. It sort of defeats the purpose, doesn't it.

Environmental claims are a source of skepticism for me
4/5

This is a good pebble substitute that is also lightweight, which was important to me because it will be used in a balcony planter. Any claims that using this product helps the environment, on the other hand, make me skeptical. Because the plastic is brittle and the bag had plastic shavings at the bottom, it's likely that small pieces of plastic will break off and end up in the soil or waterways.

This is the genuine article! You get a lot of product for a low price, and you're also helping to clean up our oceans of plastic
5/5

Watch "A Plastic Ocean" on Netflix if you don't understand the importance of cleaning up our oceans. It will make you sick to your stomach and fill you with the same sense of urgency that this company and I have. Back to the product! I used to put gravel in my planters for better drainage and root aeration, but the gravel was causing my roots to rot, so this year I went in search of something different, and after looking at $35-$50, I decided on this. $40 5lb. I came across this product and decided to give it a try because it was such a low price and for a cause that I truly believe in. I considered getting two bags, but ultimately decided on just one, which I'm glad I did! The size of one bag is enormous, but it is incredibly light. I was able to fill 7 different size pots from medium (approximately 3lb. ) to large (approximately 5lb. ) with about 1/4 to 1/3 full. from small (10lb. pots) to enormous (10lb. With just one bag, you'll be able to fill several pots! This Smart Gravel is a must-try! You'll be glad you took the initiative!.

This is fantastic
5/5

Gardening has been very therapeutic for me as a result of my MS and the fact that I am homebound. In these lovely Yellow ceramic pots from my mother, I wanted to grow roses and geraniums. They didn't have drain holes, and I'm not particularly handy, but I'm resourceful and industrious by nature, so I enlisted the help of some of my green-thumb friends. They advised that I fill the pot two-thirds with gravel and one-third with potting soil. It was a cinch to use. It's sustainable, light weight, and very easy to work with, and it provides me with a simple, affordable solution as well as a lot of joy. I've used it to line and shape grow bags, as well as in pots, on top of low-quality soil cover that I've tilled and added quality soil and vitamins to.

Plastic that has been salvaged and recycled
4/5

At first glance, this item appears strange, but if you give it time, it will make sense. With these light weight rocks made of arqlite, you are providing great drainage and a natural looking cover for your plants.

Arqlite is made from 100%rescued plastic and is I like the concept and am pleased with what I'm doing with it.
