Hello, I'm not sure where you read that cedar was used. It's a painted fit of some sort. br>Last year, I purchased an Arbor. My sun and I whipped it up in no time. There are no pieces missing. My vines were climbing happily, and I received word that we were relocating. We moved it to the garden once more. Two minor hurricanes passed through our area. If you're wondering how it's put in the ground, we used cement. We used old half gallon plant pots that were inserted into holes so that the tops of the pots were flush with the soil level. We did it by drilling a pilot hole in the bottom of each post just slightly smaller than the bolts we were using, then inserting the bolts about 1/3 of the way, with the remaining 2/3rds protruding from the bottom. The bolts were then driven into the cement, raising the posts above the soil level. This necessitated clamping a small section of 2x2 at soil level to each post to keep it from sinking into the pots, but you could also avoid the sinking issue by using longer bolts or shallower pots. I hope this information is useful.
The top is 1 1/4" X 3" and the posts are 1 1/4" X 2".

The product was exactly as described, and there were no issues with missing parts or hardware. Before I bought it, I read the reviews and saw that a few people had trouble putting it together. Steps one through five should all be tightened up as you go. Leave the bolts loose in step 6 to ensure that everything fits. Install the arches one by one (steps 7 and 8 for each side). Tighten all bolts for steps 6 and 7 once everything is in place. It's simple to do. One more thing to consider. Make a mark 21 in step 5 when setting the plates. Set the height of the metal plates by measuring 5 inches down from the highest point. Using the mark as a guide, align the top of the plate with it. This ensures that they are evenly distributed across the four categories. Finally, if the galvanized plates aren't your style, Rust-ileum painters touch 2X in satin cinnamon is a close match to the wood stain. If the wood will be exposed to the elements, I recommend sealing it with two coats of exterior satin polyurethane. To avoid ground contact, I also added metal feet to lift the unit off the stones.
The assembly took a long time, and the instructions were small and confusing. Some parts may have been preassembled and still fit inside the shipping carton. Keep in mind that you will need to anchor this arbor once it has been assembled. I did this by making 18" long stakes that were the same size as the legs, driving them into the ground, and bolting them to the arbor's four legs. It will blow over if that happens. It can be painted as shown in the picture, but because there are so many pieces of wood crossing each other, it will take a long time. Despite the amount of time I spent preparing it, the price was reasonable, and it will be a useful addition to my garden. I intend to raise Confederate Jamin so that he can run on it.
It's exactly what I expected, especially for the price, and I knew it wasn't cedar wood but Chinese fir with a stain before I bought it. It's an Ikea product in the sense that all of the pieces fit together. It took about an hour to put it together. I dislike the metal plates that appear to have been added as a result of a design flaw, which I was aware of beforehand. Because I plan to stain and seal the arbor in a darker color, I figured the metal plates would blend in nicely. The grape plants, on the other hand, would eventually cover everything. In general, this purchase has met my expectations. Cons: It took a long time (about an hour and a half for my fiancé and his father). Total time: 5 hours. There were two missing screws, which I don't think is acceptable when selling something that requires complete assembly. It's attractive, but the top rounded arch doesn't appear to be as rounded as it appears in the photo. Because the little rectangular piece holding the two rounded edges together was full of screws and didn't look good, we had to flip them backwards from what the picture shows. There were raised paint bubbles on one of the metal brackets. I know I'm being picky, but this will be used for my wedding, and I want it to look nice and elegant. It will appear that way from a distance, and we'll be using lights to help hide any flaws. After the wedding, we plan to use it in our garden, so I'm hoping it will hold up well outside!.

This pergola purchase was a great success for us. My husband and I were constructing a 6-foot partial privacy fence on our property, and we wanted the pergola to serve as a focal point for the front door. It's perfect: it was simple to assemble, of good quality, and the right height. We braced it with 2x4s, then braced it to our fence posts and built a 5+ foot door to fit inside. We bought climbing jasmine vines that we'll be planting in the next few days, and we're excited to see how the vines look on the pergola. The pergola's stain is a nice cherry color, so when I'm able to stain the treated wood we used for our fence, I'll try to match it. We intend to order a handful more of these for two additional entrances/projects. For the price, this is an excellent product.
