If you water, that's fine. Water and weather resistance are two very good characteristics of this material. As one of my uses of this fabric, I covered grass seed to prevent it from blowing away and keeping birds out by covering it so they couldn't eat it but still be able to water it.

Even though our winters are usually mild enough that we can grow lettuces, cauliflower, etc. , we do sometimes see frost. Minimizing the frost on the posts plays a significant role in determining whether we harvest a crop or not. It tends to be mild and sunny during the winter, and the temps are usually in the low 40's/high 30's. The situation requires some protection but does not require a lot of attention and support in order to be successful. My garden bed is covered in this product, which works well. It came in a large package big enough to cover my entire garden bed, as well as a wire snap pea support at one end. My garden was in great need of this product at the right time.
