Questions & Answers

Is there an effective shelf life for Terro bottles? I haven't had this bottle for more than a year or two, and they ignored it like the plague yesterday. ?

When the clear liquid turns a light yellow color, the ants become less interested in it, and when it turns dark brown, they avoid it like poison. I've made several attempts to re-create the situation. I've had some success diluting it with purified water, but as soon as I put in a new bottle, the same ants that ignored the old stuff go crazy for the bait. So yes. There's a shelf-life strategy that works. Once opened, the better re-use life is 6 to 12 months. The more tightly it is sealed after each use, the longer it will last.

Is Terro Bait effective in the fight against argetine ants? Do you have a success story you'd like to tell us about?

The most effective way to eradicate an entire colony of Argentine ants is to use liquid ant baits, according to the manufacturer's website. TERRO® liquid ant baits eliminate a colony quickly. When foraging worker ants come across the ant bait, they will return to the nest and share it with the rest of the colony. Liquid Ant Killer Baits can be used both inside and outside.

How long does it take to notice a reduction in ant activity or the absence of ants?

Within 24 hours of consumption, this product will kill the ants. It could take several weeks to notice a decrease in ant activity, depending on the size of the colony.

Is it possible to bring your pet with you?

TERRO® liquid ant bait contains a Borax as an active ingredient. People and animals are not poisoned by borax, but ants are a different story. When ants eat the Borax bait, it disrupts their digestive system, killing them gradually. This slow kill gives the worker ants enough time to consume the bait before returning to the nest to share it with the rest of the colony. br>However, as with any pesticide, reading the included instructions for information on how to store and apply the product safely around children and pets is essential.

It works well, but it isn't very humane (is there such a thing as a humane ant killer?)
5/5

I managed to keep ants out for years (10, to be exact) by keeping my house super clean, using lavender essential oil on baseboards, and leaving a heaping pile of sugar for them outside, and it worked for ten years. Then, this year, I lost the war when a colony set up camp (of all places) under my sink. It's possible that I've become clumsy. They may have become avaricious. What is to be expected? br>br>For weeks, I tried all of the usual tricks, but nothing worked. And, no matter how hard I try not to kill anything, there comes a point when it's either you or them. It's time to take action when you can't chop vegetables because they're climbing on you from the cutting board. br>br>This was effective in terms of action. The entire colony was wiped out in just three days. Every morning, I dutifully replaced the drop of poison that had solidified over night, and I witnessed dozens of ants lining up to drink (exactly as shown in all the pictures on the internet). On day two, I was so upset about the way they died (drying up from the inside and desperately dragging themselves all over my sink in search of water), that I armed myself with paper towels and carried out hundreds of "mercy killings. " Finally, I have no way of knowing how many people died as a result of my actions versus how many Terro Ant Killer killed. However, it was successful. br>br> The ants have left the premises. And it's likely that I'll end up in hell.

However, you can make your own version of this product

This is an excellent product. You can, however, create your own version. br>br>1/2 cup waterbr>1 cup sugarbr>1 table spoon boraxbr>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> When it's cool enough to handle, pour it into a sealed container and you've got yourself a homemade ant killer. br>br>I live in an area where there are millions upon millions of ants for some reason, and I've discovered that making my own is the most cost-effective option. At a time, I create a mason jar.

Absolutely fantastic! It's difficult to exaggerate how effective this was for me
5/5

Over a 2-year period, for some reason, Over the course of three days, the number of ants on my kitchen counter increased from one or two to dozens. To cut a long story short, I purchased this on Amazon and crossed my fingers. I sprayed a few drops on several of the cardboard squares that came with the package and scattered them throughout the kitchen. It was fascinating to watch the ants congregate around the ones where they had to be coming and going. It was like watching a herd of miniature Wildebeests drink from a watering hole in a circle. At first, it appeared that more ants would arrive, as per the instructions. They weren't strewn about the kitchen, however; instead, they were concentrated in this one spot. Because the instructions stated that they would return to their nest and then "share" their dose with others, I left them alone. (Yes, I felt bad about it, but I didn't want ants in my kitchen either. ) a real conundrum lol! ) The instructions also stated that completely ridding the area of ants could take up to two weeks. It took two days, at the very least. Only a few ants remained "drinking" at the Terro watering hole the next day. There aren't any any more today! Also, the active ingredient is Borax, which, while alkaline and not something I'd want to drink or rub in my eyes with, isn't quite the same as DDT. Bottom line: This product exceeded my expectations in terms of performance and speed. I'll save a few for myself!.

MAGIC IN THE FULLEST SENSE OF THE WORD! A NEW UPDATE HAS BEEN ADDED: In just TWO DAYS, all of the small red ants had vanished
5/5

FIRST UPDATE: br>br>FIRST UPDATE: br>br>FIRST UPDATE: br>br Since my first review, a brand new ant family has decided to give it a try, this time small red ants coming in from my front porch. I'm going to use the Terro again because it worked so well the first time, and I've included photos of the bait I put out on my porch for their welcome wagon. We had a few ants here and there at first, but nothing to worry about. But then some ant told his cousin about the great dogfood buffet in the kitchen, and suddenly there were ants all over the place. They tried to break into my refrigerator as well. We couldn't find the nest, but their entrance was a corner near a baseboard, and the "2 lane highway" ran straight into our kitchen along the baseboard. We placed this bait on several small plastic lids right in front of the "highway entrance," and within an hour, there were HUNDREDS of ants feasting. They were so taken with it that they didn't go any further into the house, and the highway became a Terro roundabout almost immediately. I continued to add a few more drops of bait as it was consumed, and now, only THREE DAYS later, there are perhaps ten ants feeding. There isn't a single one of them that makes it past the bait. In the rest of the house, there isn't a single one. This stuff is MAGIC in every sense of the word!.

It is imperative that you place your faith in it
5/5

I recently purchased a home while it was still cold and snowing in early spring. When the weather warmed up, I noticed a swarm of those large black ants in the kitchen. I'd kill them with a paper towel and throw them away, but each day more would appear. I thought I'd give it a go. I haven't seen a single ant in the two weeks since I left the goo out (and double-checked that it hadn't hardened or been eaten by ants). However, as a reviewer below me stated, the first few days are extremely difficult. Hundreds of enormous black ants descended upon the small squares I had placed. I had three squares out the first day, all covered in goo, and they were clean by the morning. I was tempted to get some raid and spray the hundreds of vile ants all over these, but I stuck to the instructions. It's difficult and unpleasant, but it's far preferable to killing ants as they appear. I noticed some shriveled up ants on the floor after three days, but there were still some much smaller ants around and in the bait. I haven't seen a single one in two weeks, despite the fact that it has been raining today, which would normally attract a large number of them. Another thing I'll mention is that I tried this as well as the black-covered ant bait traps. Ants avoided the covered traps but swarmed this one. I believe it has to do with your ability to control how much goo you put down. It also helps to see them all over the traps because you know they're taking it and it'll work. To summarize, if you want to get rid of all ants, just trust the process!.
