What is a "peeper" and what is it used for? All I can say is that I saw mosquito larvae and ordered these, placing half of one in the fountain's deepest part. There aren't any larvae left.

My home is in Michigan's wetlands, also known as swamps. I grew up in Louisiana, so I know how bad the mosquitoes are here. We needed to do something about the mosquitoes, so we started using the dunks, and the pests have now been eradicated. I used about double the recommended amount of mosquito dunks and got complete mosquito control by accident. We also purchased an outdoor bug zapper as well as indoor bug zappers to kill the adults, but the mosquito dunks were the ones that really got the pests under control. I contacted the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Environmental Quality to confirm that the mosquito dunks were legal and safe. The farmers put the dunks right in their cows' water troughs, and the cows are fine; the mosquito dunks, on the other hand, have not harmed the fish, frogs, or birds in our swamp, but have decimated the mosquitos as expected.
These have proven to be invaluable to us. We have a small swamp in the back of our yard, and we can only imagine how bad the mosquitoes would be if it wasn't for it. The township distributes them at the office counter, but we feel bad about taking as many as we need to treat the area. Every now and then, the neighbors pitch in.
Pay attention to the directions! They are effective. br>Follow the instructions carefully. br>Frogs, dragonflies, birds, fish, bats, and other mosquito-eating animals are unaffected. There are no chemicals left in the food.
This is the product to use if you have mosquitos. We used one whole pack of dunks (20 individual round pieces) in a closed 20,000 gallon pool with a large mosquito larvae and adult population. This stuff zapped them in a matter of minutes and lasted for over a month in 75-80 degree southern weather. This is fantastic!.
I like that I can put the pucks where I need them and in the right amount for the body of water. After last night's 6" rain, I'll be using some more tomorrow!.
We have a large deck that is 20 inches from a pond, allowing for a large mosquito population. I'd been using electric zappers for a while, with mixed results and a lot of upkeep. I began putting donuts every ten feet four years ago. in the reeds by the water's edge It performs far better than the previous methods while requiring far less effort on my part.
This is perfect for our bird baths, rain barrels, and vegetable gardens.
