Structure-invading ants, such as argentine ants, carpenter ants, ghost ants, and other nuisance ant pests, are targeted for indoor and outdoor control; fire, harvester, and pharaoh ants are excluded.
The active ingredient is quickly transferred throughout the colony thanks to a highly appealing formula.
Worker, brood, and queens are all killed by the active ingredient.
Approved for use in cracks and crevices both inside and outside the home. Thiamethoxam is the active ingredient in this product. 010%.
What is the mechanism of action of Optigard Ant Bait Gel? Ants that eat the gel will return to their nest and pass the bait on to the queen and her offspring, killing the queen, the offspring, and the colony as a whole.

Questions & Answers

What would this be like if you used terro?

I've tried Terro and found Optigard to be far more effective; what has worked well for me is determining where the ants are coming from and where their trails are leading. Then, near the entrance and on the trails, I place a bead of about 1/2 inch in diameter. (If you're worried about pets or children getting their hands on the gel, cut one-inch pieces of drinking straws and place the bead of gel inside.) Ants are drawn to the gel quickly, so leave it alone. The ants will return to their nest with the gel and feed it to the queen and the young ants. They will die quickly (a few days), and because ants have such a short life cycle, a dead queen means no new ants. This has gotten me a lot of good results.

Is this for ants that eat sugar or ants that eat protein?

Sugar and protein ants are both attracted to Optigard. They also have a product called Advion that is only for sugar ants.

Is there a strong odor to it? Thank you for taking the time to read this. ?

No- It has no odor that I've noticed, and you only need a small amount at a time; you need to put it in the ant's path and apply small dabs at a time; it's a thick gel, so it sticks up around the ceilings, under a countertop edge, and so on. Just keep it out of the reach of pets and children!

Short of a flame thrower, this is the best ant-control solution
5/5

We'd tried everything we could think of to get rid of those pesky little ants from the planet, or at least from our house. We enlisted the help of a "professional" after exhausting our DIY options. He told me he had it under control and would be using their exclusive (and guaranteed) ant solution after walking around and scratching (himself) for a while. He then paused for a few moments, which seemed to be the point at which I would leave him and go about my business. But no. . I was curious as to how he pulled it off. br>br>What is his ruse? This kind of thing. I took a quick look and then snapped a photo, which enabled me to do a quick google search and find the EXACT SAME THING here on Amazon after he left. I double-checked the manufacturer's website and an exterminator supply website to make sure it was the "exclusive" product he was using. I'll make one concession to him: He was successful in his treatment. We didn't see another ant for the rest of the summer after that, which was two years ago. We started seeing the little pests again about halfway through last summer, so I ordered a pack. We saw a nearly complete drop in ant sightings after squeezing out drops in a number of locations. We didn't see an ant inside for the entire summer after spraying this in about a dozen spots inside the house, as well as a few in the garage and around the foundation outside. It's a miracle. Yes, there's the possibility of black magic, but that's fine with me. br>br>Now if only I could find a similar product to deter door-to-door salespeople. Politicians and door salesmen, oh my!.

Optigard is extremely effective
5/5

For years, I've been fighting a carpenter ant infestation. Buh- Carpenter ants, you've been exterminated! I bought both the Optigard bait and the Advance 375a granular protein bait because I knew carpenter ants were picky and I needed to provide both types of bait to properly bait them. My carpenter ants were attracted to the Optigard gel bait rather than the granular bait. br>br>A little background. Within the confines of my home, I had a massive infestation. We discovered wood shavings and ant body parts near a bookcase inside the house, but we never saw an ant on or around it. After doing some research, I discovered that we have a carpenter ant infestation within our home's walls. I remembered seeing large ants on the brick outside our house and decided to look around the outside for an entry point. The entry point turned out to be a weep hole near my house. I'll attempt to post a video of the ants feasting on the Optigard gel bait inside the weep hole. I've also included a photo of the dead ant pile discovered beneath the weep hole 2. It's now been 5 weeks. I was initially concerned that the Optigard would not completely eliminate the infestation because I continued to see ants crawling on exterior walls, found shavings inside the house, and discovered ants crawling inside the house - My room, the living room, the kitchen, and the utility room - It seemed as if the infestation was getting worse. I was sorely mistaken. These ants appeared to be sick or dying, as they wandered off the beaten path into various open areas of the house. Now, 2. There are no signs of infestation five weeks after the initial treatment. There are no longer a few stray ants in the house. There are no ants on the outside of the house. There are no ants crawling in or out of the weep hole. There are no longer any wood shavings underneath the bookcase. Below the weep hole, all that was left was a pile of dead ants. Yay! Thank you, Syngenta, for developing Optigard, which is such a useful product!!.

Exceeded my expectations in every way
5/5

One morning, I awoke to find 2,000 sugar ants in my kitchen (no joke). I had to clean my kitchen for two days because of them. Even if there weren't as many the next morning, there were more each day. Traps for ants were ineffective. A co- A coworker recommended an Amazon product that was similar but not identical, but the reviews claimed that the formula had changed and that it didn't work as well. I read all of the product reviews, and they were all positive. br>br>Received the product quickly, used only a small amount for my needs, and haven't had any ants since! I'm blown away and grateful for everything you've done for me. I've given this information to others who have told me that they've recently been bothered by ants. br>br>Many thanks for this item.

The best item I've ever purchased
5/5

You'll never need another ant-repelling product again. It starts working right away. This is a fantastic item. Every year, I have a swarm of no see'um ants in my house and yard. They are everywhere. It irritates me greatly. Pest control cost me more than $3000 last year. This is the same product that my pest control guy used, and I was delighted to discover it. Put little dots where you see the ants, and they'll be gone for good in a few hours. (How much you need and how long it takes for the ants to disappear will be determined by the severity of your ant problem. ) ) I also had ants in my raised bed garden and potted plants, so I simply put a dot in each corner of my garden and on the bottoms of my potted plants, and the ants vanished. I can't say enough about how much I like this product. br>br>**Be warned, when you put the product down, ALL the ants will swarm to that spot, even the ones you didn't know were there, so if you're like me and can't stand swarms, this is not the product for you. Walk away and check again in a few hours, and don't make a path you'll walk down.
