Approximately 1/2" in diameter. Hint- You'll need to cut a plastic tube from the old axle in half for this axle, so save it. It's worth noting that the new axle has nothing to keep the wheelbarrow's wheel from moving side to side and becoming entangled in the bolts.

This worked perfectly to replace my old wheelbarrow's axel and wheel. I bought a cheap wheel and had to shim the spacing with washers because it wasn't perfect, but I'll be able to use my old wheelbarrow for a long time for a relatively low cost.
