My plants can tell me where people get the numbers for CMH lamps, but I have no idea how they do it. This weak 315w CMH lamp has caused all the plants in my house to turn yellow and lose their leaves, as the bottom portion gets no light. After switching from 400 w MH to 315 w CMH after one week, I found that the branches of my plants had grown so tall they were destroying them. Furthermore, the stems and branches of these trees have become more and more frail as they have been stretched so much. It was as if the plants were in a shade and needed to stretch upward to get to the light when using the CMH lamp. It is best not to switch from MH to CMH lamps if you do not want your plants to be harmed. A CMH lamp does not come close to the efficiency of an image lamp. Growing my plants using a 315w CMH lamp with a Growers Choice 315w CMH ballast has caused my plants to stretch four or five times more than normal. I am extremely disappointed in these plants, and I do not recommend switching to these lamps from MH It was much easier to achieve a more even spacing between internodes with MH lamps and even CFLs than with My CMH lamp has been permanently removed, and I'm now using MH lamps for closer internodal spacing, thicker, stronger branches, and thicker, darker leaves to ensure an overall healthier plant.
