The purpose here is to provide seed with bottom heat so that they will germinate more quickly or earlier. The best way to guarantee success is to offer consistent bottom heat from the controller. In the absence of a temperature controller, your soil might remain too warm or too cool to grow consistently. Alternatively, if you want to maximize the output of your mat, place 1/2 of construction foam beneath the mat. It is also possible to monitor the temperature of your soil by inserting a small thermostat that has a sensor in it, which detects at what level the soil is at optimal
The best thing is to put a bath towel on top of the mat, since the towels It has been a great experience with these heat mats, and they are a lot cheaper than other brands.
When I have their germination going I leave them on a timer and leave them running 24 hours a day for a minimum of two weeks.
Although I bought an Ohuhu thermostat, I think the Vivosun would do the job just as well.

I've seen a lot of negative reviews on this product that pointed out it didn't heat, or that it got You might not feel any warmth if you place your hand directly on the pad. You may feel too much warmth on the bottom of the pot if you put your hand there. It is not accurate to gauge temperature with the hands. Sense the material you're feeling, the temperature of your hands, the temperature of the room - all of that information is important. i don't care how sweaty you are, even the smell of your hands You may perceive this differently depending on how you see it. Because of this, you can't feel the forehead of your child when they have a fever with your fingers. I decided to use a thermometer instead of kissing the seedling flat since I wouldn't kiss my seedlings. * Do keep in mind, too, that straight warming mats (without thermostats) can raise the temperature of the base of your pots or flats by ten to twenty degrees (F) above ambient room temperature. you have a heater on a toasty 80 degrees, and then plug in this, yeah, it will burn the roots if it reaches 100 degrees. That temperature will increase if you're growing under lights, which increases that baseline temperature as well. In this case, I am currently operating 128 watts of low wattage T8 fluorescents per shelf. The ambient temperature under those lights *and just above the mat* is currently 84 degrees. There is a perfect 78 degree temperature in the soil, and 68 degrees in the rest of the room. This all means that the product works to its specifications. (I'm also a Master Gardener, which means the agriculture extension department at my state university thinks I'm knowledgeable.
In the short time I took to set up my grow area, I noticed one mat was super hot and another didn't work at all. The third felt The one that didn't work I unplugged and set it aside. A few hours later, one of the warm ones wasn't nearly as warm and I realized it might be because I had them all plugged into the saw power strip. Once I put it in a different outlet, the one I had set aside worked again! I separated the other two into their own power strips, and they both worked just fine! As of December or so, I have never had an issue with any of them. You understand that they're supposed to be just barely In my case, I used each one for only a week or two, just till I saw My next step is to start over A total of 100 flats of native plants, annuals, and vegetables are in my garden. We wish you success and happiness in your growth!.
Sadly, my plants seem to be suffering from too much heat on this heating pad When I touched the pad, it seemed as if it was going to burn my hand. A card in the box promised a refund or replacement if I wasn't As I write this, I'm awaiting a response to an email I sent. Even though this mat was the cheapest online, it is much too hot for plants to live. Rather than spend a lot of money on a starter kit last year, I used one I bought for less than half the price last year from Walmart. My assumption was that since they all look the same, they would perform the same way. Unfortunately, that isn't the case. It's hard to understand how a pig can get The supplier will be notified by me if I update this review,* Update - me. The delay was due to my email problems, and I was given a credit. I have updated my 1star to 4stars for the seller's dedication to standing behind their product. I am sure this has worked for others, but mine were just too hot. Because I received credit, it was worth my while to try.
I really like the way this works. Due to the fact that it was rolled up when it was shipped, I just had to plug it in and within 15 minutes, it was In order to avoid too much heat in your plants, you should use a thermometer when using this heating mat. The sixth and seventh mats I have sent into the same thermostat have also been installed in this way. As far as the difference between germination rates with and without the heating mat is concerned, I can definitely see it. In the near future, I'll be buying another set.
I needed this info to start my pepper plants in my basement, and I got it here. I put up a grow light in the basement because there are no south-facing windows in my house and I need more natural light. However, it's pretty cold in I have no more problems with my babies sprouting and my little ones are doing well.
My tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers will be started with these heart mats. The price point was perfect as well. I ordered two sets of two, to start my plants in the garden. With these heated mats, most sprouted in 3 days, and everything is growing great! Normally, it takes weeks for them to sprout, but with these heated mats, it took only 3 days. Having purchased this product, I am very happy with it.
In the end, they stay on and work. The control is either on or off without a way to control it. Adding an on/off switch to the mat would be nice, and I don't like the lump at the base of the mat where the components are because that part of the mat will not be used. In a better design, power cords would be separate from the mat, and would be along the cord. For the past month, they have been continuously on. In addition to toweling or quilting, they should be wrapped in blankets or towels.
Now I'm paranoid that they will both die. So far, I have been checking on the second one daily to make sure it is still warm in the I feel disappointed, however, that a single one died within 24 hours, and I do not have time, nor am I willing to deal with the hassle of trying to return it.
