Questions & Answers

Is the green (vinyl label covers used, or do you just place seeds into these white buckets ?

If I were to put these in the baskets, I would use a cover. They have not been a problem in their current shape, though they turned out to be the size of my seed starter tray, which does not have a cover. To determine whether you should plant something in darkness or in light, it would primarily depend on the type of seed you are planting.

Would it be better to put the seeds in the little indentation or to push them into the sponge when growing 'anything'?

In order to help the seeds get further into the indentation, I guide them further with a toothpick if they need a little assistance.

How well do these work in aero garden devices?

Yes, I agree! No matter what AeroGarden you use, the sponges will work!

It's good to know that these work, but you must do something else first! There were a few cases where people had mold problems
4/5

The first thing that you need to do with them is to wet them, and then microwave them If there are mold spores living in them, this will kill Remember to clean out your Aerogarden with a little bit of bleach as well. For 15 minutes, put five cups of bleach water in your washing machine. You will kill any mold in your filter if you do this.

There has been a marked improvement over the prior year You can now grow seeds in AeroGarden sponges! In about two years, when it was on sale on Amazon, I bought an AeroGarden LED device
5/5

The fun part about growing your own herbs, lettuce, and vegetables is that you can control where they grow. My previous attempts at using seed pods purchased from AeroGarden failed, so with this crop of herbs I decided to try seeds I planted myself. Wow, what I didn't have any dud seeds in my package of seed pods from AeroGarden, but these seeds germinated perfectly without any issues. There was a need to thin them since more than one seed germinated in the sponge. When I bought Italian parsley and thyme directly from AeroGarden, I was always disappointed in the results, but now I'm learning I don't have to do that anymore, and the results are excellent and consistent now. Also, it is much cheaper! Burpee Italian Herbs seeds cost approximately $3 per package . The pack of seeds costs $79 at Home Depot and is enough to seed three or more trees Herbs are grown in four crops. If you also add the cost of the sponges (50 in a pack), you're still way ahead of the competition. Cherry tomatoes are next in line, after my current crop of herbs has been used up. You may wish to start out using AeroGarden's own prepackaged seeds to learn how to use the device, just save the plastic sponge holders once you've completed growing/transplanting your gardens, and you'll only need to purchase your own seeds after that. With fresh herbs, lettuce, or vegetables all year round, you won't run out of anything!.

This is awful
3/5

The product we ordered didn't work for us after plants were planted and white worms appeared in some of them after using it. returned the rest that I had not used, and I found that several of them were infested with worms, so I tossed them all out.

Not at all
3/5

You did well. Aerogarden has been one of my main sources of plants for many years, but they have unfortunately been the worst investment A lot of mold is growing. My grower is always really clean in between growing sessions, so I am not sure how it gets in there. The mold has not gone away. After taking them out of the fridge, I microwaved them for four minutes, as recommended by another reviewer. There was still mold growing. Then I decided, heck yes, I'll go the whole hog After boiling them in water and hydrogen peroxide for ten minutes, I cooled them down. It is recommended that they be allowed to I'm still here. You see mold. My nutrients and my system have nothing to do with it. The seeds were even tested to see if they had become inedible and rotten, but they were healthy. There was pretty much no way to get rid of the blue mold from nearly every one of them. We will not purchase this product The antimicrobial properties of coco coir pods will appeal to me in the future.

These are the best sponges to use in Aerogarden custom projects
5/5

All the grow media I have used up until now have been sponges. Sponge even surpasses Parkseed sponges in terms of performance. It is great to see germination rates so high. Molding is not present. There is no residue left at the bottom of these machines as they do not crumble. If transplanting out, the only disadvantage is that broken plants tend to break down quickly After a sponge has been used for a few years, it will not completely decompose. My usual method of getting them is to dig them up in the Otherwise, the squirrels will dig up the flower bulbs for me, as they believe they are buried food or flower bulbs. In addition to the price on Amazon, being a Prime Subscriber you can score free shipping as well. Take a look at the pictures below for examples of projects that use Spring of 2016, the outside garden was planted with geraniums that were started in the machines and transplanted in potting mix. In the absence of an original setup, it will grow nothing but green algae
3/5

The update is Using the brain with which I was born, I made a few modifications to my setup. The question I asked myself was Algae grows for a variety of reasons, so how does that come about?" After answering myself, it was light and water, so I quickly realized that there wasn't anything blocking the light to the sponge which resulted in the algae growing incredibly fast. When I bought the stickers that came with my original pods, I covered the top of the pod and that slowed the growth of Despite it not being completely stopped, I will raise the rating by a couple of stars since I cannot blame a product for my own stupidity. Those reviews were right, man, those sponges start to grow algae like nothing I have ever seen before. My Aerogardens have been in my care for no more than 7 days when they show signs of green algae. After I removed my aerogarden from the ground and let it soak in bleach water solution for an hour, it still did not work. If you want to buy these seeds, buy them somewhere else, because I have ruined a lot of specialty seeds.

It is 50"
3/5

A pack of". It is 50". The overall product was good, as they swelled up nicely and fitted snugly in the flat There are only 45 units in this package, which is why it has a low rating. It is understood that packaging is based on weight and having a minimum of one item per package It appears to be a bit extreme to have 10% missing. Among the 50 that came with it, only one had to be "fitted" so as to function in the seed starter, which is superior to the original 50.

This is to small for my Aerogarden Harvest
3/5

They are too small to work with my The sponge flops around, the top of it sits an inch from the rim of the pod, and the hole is cut too deep so most sproutlings die before they are big enough to escape it. As opposed to turn them upside-down, I gently placed the seeds on top of the sponge in the same manner. My success rate was higher, but sprouts from larger seeds failed to take root due to dense sponges. On top of that, these sponges also grow green slime (which I presume to be They both grow faster than some seeds can germinate, so they choke out each other. My goal is to find a plant friendly disease treatment that will make this work. I am disappointed, but determined to make this work. Let's hope for the best!.
