The wire plant tie wraps and the hose strips I have been using for years do not compare to these! It is possible to adjust the length of the tying band, twist and untwist it, and use it again with no damage to the plant. As far as I can tell, they haven't gotten brittle in full sun, so I expect their use for tomato ties will last for years to come. The product I found was just what I was looking for.
It is soft, easy to cut, yet encased to secure it effectively. Alternatively, arched/bent climbing rose canes can be trained back towards themselves at the base by bending them by hand. This is referred to as self-sustaining in Fine Gardening The pegging process. There is no cutting into the plant because the tie is not rigid. I am very pleased with this.
It arrived in a different condition than what was shown on the product page. (See image attached). While the coating is pleasantly soft, it is way too stretchy and does not adhere to the thin, white, and prickly wire inside of it. When you try to use it, the rubber green covering moves independently of the wire - which is not always the case. The wire sticks out of the end of the coating. Because the coating slides and slips, this results in a length of coating without wire inside. The situation is a little irritating and makes dealing with it difficult. Plants cannot be trained if these sticks are too soft to stick in the ground.
Take a look at some videos, use your imagination. Similar to Duct tape, this stuff is a little sticky. You can dang near do it all with it, without it becoming grimy and discolored, and it is easy to bend, twist, tie, and More will be provided when the time is right. In an effort to keep branches low, I have looped around plant pots so that other ties can be looped through them. I really like that.
There is a noticeable difference in quality between this set of ties and one I bought on Amazon.
The product consists of a few bits of wire and a soft protective coating. This product should have been a single wire covered in a I received an unused spool filled with varying lengths of wire, some of which were not relevant to my needs, and most contained no wire within a few inches of It is a strand that is both soft and stretchy, but that does not support the plants at all! During the second purchase, I was surprised with the quality of the product. The first purchase was excellent, and that's the only reason this gets two stars instead of one.
Even though the strap was designed for tying up plants, I have not tried it for that purpose. As a result of its size, it is also useful for other tasks in the garden and outdoors. It seems to me that the wire and covering are better connected than other covered wires I have used in the past. I find it easier to work with this way, and I have less chance of the wire poking out in a way that I can end up getting pounded by it. In my office, I use it to secure coiled cords. Many of the gadgets I own now can be hooked up to the computer to be synced, charged, photos uploaded, scanned or any other function required. The cords of my chairs are rolled up and secured with a length of this wire when they are not being used. I can easily remove the cord I need from my drawer, plus it keeps my drawer clean. It is common in the kitchen to have longer cords than necessary to reach an The excess is secured so it will stay out of the way by coiling. The same is true for the chargers I use for my various battery-powered Other than cord containment, I find there are dozens of things that are easier to deal with if they are temporarily grouped and secured. When I pack away my winter shirts and pants that are normally hung up, I have a lot of empty hangers that I don't need in the This wire makes them behave well when I wrap it around them during the time I don't need them. When I prepared my vegetable gardens this spring I erected trellises in different places to support plants in the vine type as well as those plants which take up less ground space rather than smother it with roots. Multiple ones of these are connected with this wire so they can be made more stable. I was pleased with the result. It was easy for me to cut the wire with coating with my multi-tool since the wire is quite thin A wire cutter is a tool. Towards the end of the growing season, I will use the wire to train and secure the plants on the In the same way, I used chicken wire to protect a newly planted shrub until it was big enough to scare off deer. To stabilize the enclosure, I encircled the plant with chicken wire pipe and even attached the fence to the enclosure to provide it with The wire I use for gardening and other purposes is the most versatile of the coated wires that I've used.
The plant tie I like the most is this brand. I have probably purchased every plant tie available.
