The inlet/outlet flange and the base of these filters can be reversed to make them work. With this filter, you can disconnect the flat base and the flange (the flange is the part of the filter casing to which the flex duct is connected), then reconnect the flat base and the flange to the opposite sides of the filter casing. To put it another way, switch the base and flange locations. To do this, remove the Philip screws from the base and the flange with a Philips head screw driver, then swap their locations and replace the Philip screws. This is done to make the air flow through the internal filter go in the opposite direction. As a result, the filter's lifespan is extended.
The cfm is closer to 450, which is far too much for a 5x5x7 tent. If you have a variable speed controller, set it to medium to low to extend the life of the filter. I have a 4x4x6 tent with four large plants that are almost ready to harvest, and my setting is on the lowest setting possible with one bitten vent open, and it works perfectly.
The filter cover should be washable, in my opinion. Mine has been in use for over a year and hasn't shown any signs of dirt.
It worked perfectly for my first grow, which consisted of six plants in a 4 x 8 tent. I reversed it for my second grow, which was two plants in a 2 x 4, and my housemates can smell it after two months. So that's how long mine lasted. I'm going to disassemble it and replace the charcoal with activated aquarium charcoal pellets to see how well it works.

I despise writing reviews, and this is only my third or fourth, but I felt compelled to inform others about how well this product works. I have a simple setup with a grow tent, and I used this unit to suck up air and blow it out of my tent. Amazing. My wife used to come to me and whine about how bad it smelled in the garage, but that all changed when I got this baby girl. Of course, I had to ask if she smelled anything in the garage, which she denied, prompting me to write a review:.
This filter was used to replace a 6" Phresh filter that had failed. The tent's temperature began to rise dramatically after a few weeks. I had no choice but to leave the tent door open. Vivosun filter was replaced with an older Phresh filter, but the vivosun fan was kept. The temperature quickly dropped. Vivosun filter is now connected to the CanMax inline fan. The vivosun filter was unable to draw in enough air. After a few weeks in the tent, this filter is completely ruined. br>Too bad, because the vivosun fan looks great with it. br>br>3- if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, this is the place to 2018br>Customer service contacted me less than 24 hours after I posted this negative review. br>They offered an immediate refund or another option, which I declined. br>I was so impressed by their demeanor that I decided to give them another chance. This item has a lot of negative reviews, with the majority of people complaining about how difficult or impossible it is to pull air through it. I'm guessing these people are using inline fans that are either too small or too weak to move air.

It says a lot when she says the next morning, "holy crap, I can't smell it, that thing works. " She has an incredible nose. This thing works because I have a happy wife and a happy life.
My blower fan was full of carbon chunks. After purchasing this filter, I recently completed my first grow. In a 3x3x6 tent with four extremely stinky plants, I use it with an iPower 190 cfm blower fan. Even when pointing the exhaust hose directly in your face, it scrubbed the smell out completely and left no trace of what was inside the tent. When I removed the fan and filter, however, I noticed that the blower fan sounded like a bunch of rocks were rattling around inside, which was exactly what it was; The filter's small pieces of carbon got sucked into the fan, and I had to shake them all out. Fortunately, the fan was not damaged, but it appears that the blower fan may have been damaged. I'm thinking about putting a piece of nylon stocking where the flex hose connects to the fan to catch any loose carbon.
To be honest, I went with a different company for the fan per cfm needed, so this review only applies to the filter. This is an excellent filter because many of these products have fake reviews. This filter isn't a gimmick; it's fantastic. 4x4x6 is the size of the five plants. There is no odor in a tent with a rating of 5. I'm talking about ZERO. After two months, it stopped working. When I first put it in, the reduced air flow caused my room temperature to rise 2-degrees. 3 degrees Celsius. For the past two months, I've had this filter running 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The pre-filter is nice with sewn-in elastic, nicer than others I've seen, and it worked okay at first. The amount of airflow was significantly reduced (perhaps by 20 percent). 30%), but it can be used again. The odor was reduced by approximately 90 .
