Questions & Answers
Florida is where I call home. During a storm, I lower the shades. Rain stays away from the lanai. However, I intend to roll them up when we leave in the summer. Allowing for the passage of wind.
Between the brackets, the 6x6 is 6 feet long. I hope this is of assistance to you.
The roll-up mechanism can be mounted on either end, according to the instructions.
Item 462109 is a 4' x 6' x 4' x 6' x 4' x 6' x 6' x 4' x 6' x 6

For our outdoor patio, my husband requested shades. He began the project five years ago and has gone through so many that it is absurd. They'd rip in the wind or rot in the sun quickly. He finally caved in and tried Coolaroo shades because we live in the desert. Three years ago, it all began. With one, he began. We've probably bought at least 8 more in different sizes since then. They reduced the temperature on the pato and shielded it from the scorching sun. They're bungee-tied to the ground by him. They've stood up to winds of up to 70 miles per hour. Trees were felled by straight-line winds. The blinds were not harmed in any way. They're a lovely addition to the patio, and we're quite pleased with them. He's changed the configuration and locations over the years, but Coolaroo is still our favorite. Because of them, we can now use our outdoor patio all year long. They are well worth your money. I strongly advise you to do so.
The Coolaroo Exterior Roller Shade, Cordless Roller Shade with 80% UV Protection was installed by a handyman without much difficulty by a handyman without much difficulty by% The tan 80% UV fabric doesn't provide as much privacy as my Terracotta (red) 90% UV fabric does doesn't provide as much privacy as my Terracotta You might want to stick with the 90% UV fabric if privacy is a priority for you. The hardware for lowering and raising the shades should be more durable because it appears to be easily broken. Overall, I like the shades because they keep my south-facing deck cool while also providing just enough privacy. On my deck, my Coolaroo shades keep me protected from the sun. Outsiders are unable to see in, but I am able to see out. Is it something I would suggest? Yes. In addition, I paid full price for the item, and my review is unrelated to any promotion.
I also have some other coolaroo roll-up shades that are fantastic. 8X8 are the dimensions of my other pieces. I was relieved to discover one that was considerably smaller. I got the shade, which was nicely packed. However, it appeared to have been previously opened. When I first opened it, I was struck by how cheap the material and plastic components were. I'm pretty sure it's a knockoff. It doesn't appear to be the same shade as the rest of my collection. I took it back to the shipping store as soon as I could.
The small plastic loop at the top of the shade where the mettle wand fits in needs to be improved by Coolaroo in order to turn it up. down. This is the third of their products I've purchased, and the plastic loop has broken on each of them. I won't be able to roll it up if that happens. down. Reimbursement for the defect is something I'd like.
The installation was simple, though the exact mounting clearance was not specified before ordering. I was able to mount (despite the fact that it was extremely tight!). ) but there isn't enough room to rotate the shade-lowering/raising rod on one of my three shades. I had to improvise a little to get that one installed, but the other two went in without a hitch and look great next to each other. br>br>I haven't had to deal with any extreme weather yet, such as heavy wind, downpours, or extreme heat, but so far everything has gone well. It has IMMENSELY reduced the glare and heat on my front porch, which faces west and is borderline unbearable between 5 and 10 a. m. Summer days end at 7 p. m. It's now more pleasant and even secluded, which is nice. br>br>It also goes well with my color scheme.
The back porch is covered in snow, which has been blown in by the wind! I placed orders for one eight foot shade, four six foot shade, and three four foot shade! br>I had to cut a 4' wide shade down to 3'4" wide! If you can sew and use a flat screw driver and a hack saw, you'll find it surprisingly simple to complete. Before you cut anything, measure 5 times!.
Excellent work. This item was given to someone else - I visited their yard and appreciated the shade provided by this product; I inquired about the installation and how it handled the wind, and was told it was perfect and simple to install. They have it set up under a raised deck, and it works wonders in the current heat wave, and it's simple to roll up when we go inside; they sometimes leave it down, but they were showing me how easy it is to work with. They are grateful for the shade, which they greatly appreciate.
Our house faces west, and the Florida sun is so hot that the screen door handle was too hot to open when we first came in! This was the solution. We hung it under the eaves at a 45-degree slant to secure it with bungee cords with a hook on one end to hook to the end caps and the other end to secure into our concrete pathway. So that the screen door doesn't hit the shade when we open it, we have some wiggle room. This setup works quite well, and it has significantly reduced the amount of heat that reaches the front door, as well as the heat trapped between the front and screen doors! We just have to be careful not to trip over the tie downs as we go around the house to enter and exit. It has held up well in rain storms, but I did roll it up during a wind/rain storm to avoid any damage.
