At the very least, the quality of these springs surprised me at first. Without having them right in front of you, it's difficult to get a sense of their size. The spring coils are made from stock that is roughly 1/4" thicker than the chain that holds our swing in place. They're quite heavy, and they appear to be made of a high-quality alloy (though only time will tell). When installed, they give the swing a softer feel than a chain would, and they don't appear to stretch at all, even with 350-pound swings. On the swing is a 400-pound adult. Swinging is also quiet and comfortable. As far as I can tell, these are good value for money and would make a nice addition to any porch swing. I'll leave the door open to update this review later if anything changes, as we're only about three weeks in.
I considered the 650 and 950 springs, but the heavy springs are definitely the way to go. br>br>So, I'm 200 pounds, and my wife is possibly 125 pounds (she'll be furious that I chose the heavier option). ) And the swing is a lot more relaxing. To begin with, after two minutes of sitting, my tailbone does not hurt. Second, anyone suffering from any form of ADHD will prefer the bouncy swing to the drab solid chain swing. Third, and I'm sure someone is aware of this. anyone. will agree that saving a foot on chain is a good idea. br>br>Purchase these, especially the heavy ones.
" Together, my wife and I are around 600 pounds. We were a little hesitant at first about using the springs on our swing, but we were willing to take a chance. We simply popped the chains on the hook and were done in no time. Then came the big reveal. . . both my wife and I, or as I like to refer to ourselves, "El Gigante," delivered our hefty payload to the swing. Then, all of a sudden, we hear a loud PI-O-O-O-O-O-O-O- YAHHH! I didn't properly tighten the eyebolt, but the springs held up admirably! I'll be purchasing more in the coming months in order to complete the installation of my hammock.
This was given to my daughter as a present. She put it in herself and claimed it made a significant difference. The durability issue will have to wait because it's only been two weeks.
Very strong and simple to connect to a chain. I almost didn't plan on spending this much money on my porch swing, but it's a lot more comfortable now. I'm glad I included them in the setup.
We bought a new porch swing and attached it to the underside of our deck with these springs at the top of the swing chains. They're sturdy and add a nice, subtle bounce to the swing. Perfect.
With each movement, I get a little jolt. GREAT.
