We were overjoyed to find replacement canopies for our five patio umbrellas, especially ones of such high quality. The color is perfect, but the seams are also tight and well stitched, the grommet is reinforced and placed on double fabric, and the rib pocket is doubled for strength. There are no dangling threads from the seams, and the construction is free of skips. The only flaw with these is the packaging wrinkling, but once they're on the frames and in the sun, the heat from the sun has smoothed them out perfectly. I never imagined replacing just the canopy would be so simple - We used to toss the entire umbrella and start over every time. What a fantastic way to save money while also getting a great-looking product. Thank you, Amazon, for making this a simple transition and a cost-effective replacement for all new umbrellas.
The umbrella mount area was not shown in the picture. So, until I got it, I assumed it was universal. br>The umbrella is secured by a steel grommet that fits over the pole. br>My pole has a threaded plastic section to which the nut on top of the pole screws. br>In order for the grommet to fit on the pole, I had to cut it out of the fabric. It's not ideal, but it'll do for now. Aside from that, the quality is excellent.
The material is extremely thin, to begin with. I had purchased the incorrect size replacement ribs (9' instead of 8'), and then discovered that I needed a new canopy to fit them. My original canopy was a lot more substantial. The length *barely* fits onto 54" long rib posts due to the thinness of the material. Because the fabric is being stretched, I expect the seams to wear out within a year. br>br>Another minor niggle — And I'm to blame because I should've looked at the photo more carefully — There is no place on the canopy to tie the ribs and canopy together so that it doesn't flap around or blow down when you lower your ribs. Another detail I overlooked was the size of the top grommet hole. 1/2"? The majority of umbrellas have only one blade. Poles with a larger grommet hole for the finial on top of 1/2" poles. That is, once again, not the fault of the manufacturer. Clearly, this is designed for more affordable umbrellas. br>br>Of course, for $40, what can you expect? The solution is as follows: not much. At the very least, this will keep me going until I can save up another couple hundred dollars for a better canopy that will withstand the elements and fit better.
The umbrella cover is lovely, but the grommet that should go on it is far too small. I had to cut out the grommet that came with the umbrella after removing it from my old umbrella, which was difficult. I then inserted it into the new one and cut out the grommet that came with it. The umbrella grommet has a 1/2" or smaller opening and will not fit an umbrella unless you use a different connection. I kept the umbrella because I liked it and could work with it to make it fit. I believe you should be aware that you will almost certainly have to work with the fit. The top and bottom of the two-piece grommet are made of solid metal, and prying open and fitting it to the new umbrella requires some strength.
They were metal and opened and closed with a crank. They both died within a few weeks, the first time there was a breeze (my fault for not closing them sooner). Then I remembered we had a couple of old wooden market umbrella frames that needed new canopies. After reading numerous reviews, I decided to give these a try, and I couldn't be happier. I'd like to repaint the wooden frames, but I want to make sure the canopies fit first. They were incredibly simple to put on and appear to be of good quality. For the price, you can't beat them.
I went with the khaki color because it's such a nice shade (pun intended). It has a nice latte color to it. There are no gold undertones in this color. To fit my umbrella frame, I had to remove the grommet and make the hole a little bigger, but that's a fairly common issue with my umbrella replacements. Because I live in such a sunny area, I buy a new cover every two years. They all appear to fade away at some point. This one's fabric is fairly smooth, which means I won't have to wash it as frequently. I wouldn't describe the fabric as thick, but neither would I describe it as thin. The umbrella cover is of good quality.

I put off installing this cover because I thought it would be difficult, require a lot of tools, and take a long time. I was completely off the mark! It was simple to attach to the spokes of my patio umbrella, and it took only a few minutes. Only a pair of scissors were required to remove the center grommet (which was too small to fit over the umbrella's center pole). br>The fabric is pleasant to the touch, tightly woven, and appears to be treated with a water repellent. I'll be happy if it lasts two seasons and I'll consider it durable.
