The Pergola would be attached to the house by mounting two 2x6x6' pressure treated wood pieces on your wall surface (sold separately). The main support beam, which includes the rafter hangers (included with the Pergola), would then be installed on the wood beam pieces. Please see the installation instructions here if you need any additional information. > http: newenglandarbors.com is a website dedicated to the city of New England. com/wp- VA42044_Freemont_Pergola_Instructions (content/uploads/2017/01/VA42044_Freemont_Pergola_Instructions) (content/uploads/2017/01/VA42044_Freemont pdf
It could be attached to the house below the gutters, but not at the same level as the gutters.
Selected User Reviews For New England Arbors Freemont 12' x 12' Attached Vinyl Pergola
This gets a 4/5 from me. It's stable in the z and y axes, moderately unstable in the x, but it won't blow over in a bad storm. 4x4 posts are used. It's possible that 6x6 or triangular bracing would be preferable. Not sure. br>br>There are problems with the instructions - On page ten, it is requested that you do one of the following: Screws with a diameter of 5 inches and a length of 64 millimeters. 64mm is divided into two parts. 5in. I contacted New England Arbors' customer service department, who confirmed 1. Unfortunately, this was incorrect, as we were only missing one. There are 5 screws in total. At the very least, customer service was easy to contact. br>br>On page 13, the top of the pergola is easily damaged. The rafters on the outside of the structure were snug. In retrospect, I should have slid the vinyl sheathing and joiner on after the wood was shot through from the front. I hired professional installers, and according to the instructions, you should install the joiner first, then flex the frame to fit the beam in. It was slightly harmed as a result of their actions. There isn't much that a vinyl repair kit won't fix. Page 15 - br>br>Pg15 - br>br>Pg16 - br>br> Make sure your shade slats don't cover the joiner. br>br>In non-load bearing directions, the brackets are a little thin. The top isn't supposed to support any weight, so it should be fine; however, don't hang a swing from it. br>br>It looks great, is simple to put together, and should last a long time. There are far too many minor flaws to give this a five-star rating. Yes, you're going to construct a rough-cut pergola out of wood and then cover it with these predrilled components. The kit saves time and money while also protecting the underlying wood and giving it a professional appearance. It necessitates the acquisition of a building permit. br>br> The plan was given the green light by the local government. I'm hoping everything goes well during the inspection. br>br>I've attached a photo of the before and after.
br>For such an expensive purchase, it fell far short in terms of dimensions and quality. br>We had to buy a lot of additional materials to complete this project, including real wood, concrete, better screws, and nails, because nothing that came with the product was adequate. I'm extremely dissatisfied with the following:.
Very disappointed after reading the reviews and deciding to buy. To put together, I hired people. In the center, it bends down. Even if bolted to the ground, it can move. I'm so disappointed, but this isn't like a pair of shoes that can be returned easily. This one is the 12x12, and while their smaller ones may be better, this one isn't, and I'm frustrated because there's nothing I can do about it except wait for it to fall down and replace it with a wood one.
We're crossing our fingers that the connections stay intact. The pergola has been a big hit with us. We were dismayed to discover that all of the horizontal pieces are half-length. length, and they must be held together with an unsightly clip and additional screws. The image hides the unsightly connection pieces. This, I'm sure, makes shipping easier, but it also adds a lot of time to the assembly process and makes the structure weaker in general. I recommend adding the 2x6 in horizontal each piece as directed in the manual to ensure that it can withstand snow loads, etc. There are also two end pieces/supports that are pre-installed. drilled for each joist's hangers, despite the fact that this was not mentioned in the manual. In addition, the manual boasted about a plethora of "extra" screws, which were not present. We'd had our fill of it.
This pergola is a great addition to our patio! I like how it looks and how it provides just the right amount of shade! To make it sturdy enough, I had to buy lumber to put inside all of the pieces, but I love it!.
The contents of the kit are well-organized and laid out. All of the pieces appeared to be of good quality, and the instructions were simple to follow. On their website, they have installation videos; someone on here said it didn't come with a shade kit, so we bought one to add, but it ended up coming with one, so we had to return it. You will need to purchase the wood for the vinyl covers; one reviewer stated that theirs sagged because they did not use the required wood. It took my husband, our 14-year-old son, and me a couple of days to put it together, owing to the board's height and weight. We are very pleased with how it turned out and would highly recommend it due to the low cost and high quality. However, don't expect to be able to do it in a single afternoon.
Due to my budget and needs, I purchased a half arbor that was attached to the house. It worked out perfectly for my purpose of having a container vegetable garden area, and I purchased additional trellises for grape vines, cumbers, and other vine vegetables. Happy with the results, but not so much with the cost of the wood these structures necessitate.
I like it, and it's simple to assemble.
