The hive typically has one microfiber towel section. In the corners, I place microfiber towel sections as well. There are barbs on the SHB's legs that ensnare them, but not on the Bers.
Vegetable oil you wish to use as a cooking medium.

These works almost as well. Fill the center with apple cider vinegar and the outer voids with mineral oil. They usually are easy to close except for the fact that sometimes the tops are difficult to close. I think the manufacturer could improve upon their tops or put something like a snap on them and then I would say they would be some of the best I have Beetles are indeed caught by the traps. Make sure the tops are in good condition. Could you please. In addition to being twice as long, it would also be better.
It is well worth the price. In Florida, we have a big problem with beetle damage and this device helped prevent several hives from being destroyed. You don't want to wait until you run in to trouble to take some so keep some on hand.
It is a 5 star product. This picture shows how many traps were caught only in 3 days with one trap. The beetles were not running all over when I opened the hive for the first time. The majority of them stayed in the traps. I now have four traps in a two-deep hive. My center compartment is filled with apple cider vinegar, while my side compartments are filled with diatomaceous earth. In addition to being easy to place, the trap lies flat against the top bar, which means beetles can't hide beneath it. You can clean it easily and re-use it.
A good product for the price. I've been using this in my hives for a while now and I like it better than the black flat beetle barn because you can see the dead beetles and when to replace them.
Small hive beetles seem to be caught well with this. My next purchase would be to There is no need to dispose of these. There is no need to dispose of them since you can clean them out.
The small beetles are good for trapping in this trap! The oil we use is food grade mineral oil, which we buy cheaply at big box stores. The only reason we don't use vegetable oil is because it can go rancid when heated. It does what it says! The traps are easy to use, but be sure to snap them all the way closed when installing.
This item is easy to install and is great.
