The first box I ordered had some defects from poor production and I was pretty sad, but the customer service team apologized for the bad mass manufacturing and sent me a new box from a completely free batch as soon as possible. The piece was put together by me and I Assembling this puzzle was very easy since all the parts were included and fit together as if they were a The program is in use now and is performing well.
In addition to purchasing this box for expansion of my current hive, I was also thinking of coating it with wax as opposed to painting it. The risk was taken but I do not think the reward was worth it. Those considering this hive should take heed of the following 1. There is definitely a lot of wax coating on it. It is so much so that there are wax drippings all over the parts that the assembly is difficult. Please read 2. This product could still be better manufactured as the cuts don't always align well (see gaps in the pictures) and some holes appear to have been poorly drilled, causing the wood to split in some places. 1. 2. 3. There were two nails missing from my hand. There is just something a bit annoying about expecting a kit with everything you want. In addition to the outside of the box being coated, the inside of the box is also coated with odies oil, but not strictly necessary. If I were to do it again I would purchase a quality wooden box and use odies oil. Although I am not sure whether I will return it now that it has been assembled, I will likely not buy from this seller.
Built a guitar amp speaker out of a bee box. Trying out the wax coating is unclear if it was a good or bad idea, but it seems to have worked. In any case, I never got stung.
My overall satisfaction with the purchase was excellent, however one of the frame pieces was broken during shipping and one of the screws was defective due to a partially formed Phillips head slot. Getting the box and the frames together was easy, as were the frames themselves. This is a product I would purchase If I could recommend anything to the shipper it would be bubble wrapping the smaller pieces to prevent them from getting.
The little hook end under one frame makes it easy for me to pry out the frame by using the next frame over for leverage. Also, it is easier to pry out the frames when compared to the standard curved handled hive. I love the red color because it is easy to see if you drop it in grass, etc. The price was very reasonable too.
As of yet, I have put together no more difficult boxes than this one. I had no warping issues with the box, it was easy to put together, the frames were well cut, and the screws and nail hardware were included. We should use wood glue instead of wood glue (because who has time for that?). Assembling the frames with no superglue allows us to have a stronger and more durable product. A good wood glue will take longer to dry, be less durable, and be less reliable.
Putting it together was extremely easy. It took about 20 minutes from start to finish. There is only one piece of advice pre-plan To prevent splitting of the wood end, drill a starter hole in the wood ahead of each nail. I have included a photo of the beehive at its arrival and after it was assembled. The hives I order from them for the future will definitely be from them again!.
We had everything we needed to assemble everything. Incorporating screws and nails as well. A few of the side frames had the outer ends broken off immediately, and this frightened me. The stapler must be used in place of the provided screws, however. We didn't have a problem assembling the piece. However, I was very pleased with everything else about the product.
