What should I do if the cap comes off, unscrews? A leak has developed in mine. ?

Depending on the value, if you turn off the water after having it on, a little water will accumulate around the "cap" area because there is a device internally designed to release pressure. The stem value gasket (rubber piece inside the stem) may need to be replaced if it is leaking around the stem value.

This can be hooked up to pvc pipes, right?

You will need two 3/4 inch pvc threaded end pieces in order to hook this up to the pvc pipe.

It appears the handle has been damaged. Could it Isn't it so tiny? (why is it so small? a very painful and hard process ?

We are fighting a war of aggression Rather than an electric control valve, a siphon valve is used. A sprinkler valve manifold adds a valve that prevents water from backing up into the water supply. Some building codes require this so water doesn't back up into the water supply line.

This valve seems really well built for the price. I bought it to replace one that was almost identical but had a union built into the output side. I am not sure how long the other valve had been there, but it was probably at least 20-30 years old. This is the antidote There was a problem with the siphon valve on the existing valve, so water just spilled from the anti-siphon valve There was a siphon cap that I could not unscrew to see if the valve could be repaired. Anyhow, this feels like a very solidly built piece of equipment, and it does what I expect it to do. My only complaint is that the handle is rather hard to turn by hand, as it is designed to be operated by those robot-like systems.
