No, it isn't eighth grade.
No, it's not a pin that's been hardened. Perfect for lawn tractors, lawn carts, and other similar vehicles, but not the best choice for tractors. We've had good results with this pin on a 350cc four-wheeler. Grade 8/powder-coated pins are available on Amazon. "Grade 8 Hitch Pin" is a keyword you can use to find it.
No, they haven't become brittle.

The fasteners arrived today, and I must say, they appear to be heavy-duty and long-lasting! The handle is much nicer and larger than it appears in the photo. This is something I like. In my opinion, the clip pin they use is too small. It appears to be a clip for a baby. Don't get me wrong, it'll do the job, but I went out and bought some Reese clips to replace them. Yes, a hole for clips is drilled in the shaft's center. Their pictures on here don't show that. I can't help but smile because I've been saying for a long time that India is the new China. GE is my place of employment. They can be found in any location. These are Indian fasteners, not Chinese or Taiwanese ones. That's unusual to see! These will be mounted on a gated trailer. We'll have to see how they hold up over time. Overall, they appear to be quite capable and should pose no problems. It would have been nice if the handles were rubberized or powder-coated. They should fit in my 8 x 12 trailer with gate just fine. br>br>Note: If you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words "creative Reese Towpower Clips with rubber coating are available in a three-pack on Amazon. (7021300) The clips claim to be 1/2 inch in diameter. 5/8 pins. The Reese clips will not fit through the current hole in the fasteners. It's not a big deal. I'll get my drill out and simply enlarge the hole- The Reese clips fit because the size is 3/32. The clips with Reese are really cool. Extremely long lasting. These could almost certainly be hung from a tree.
You will not be dissatisfied with your purchase. Very well constructed, and the actual working space is a little larger than advertised. I enlarged the excellent photograph and discovered what I was looking for in the extra length. At least 3/8 inch more - depending on how you're going to use it.
For a pin that I desperately needed, this was an incredible recovery.
This is what I use to connect my tractor's 3 point hitch to the adjustable connection.
I've spent money on other pins, tried new things, and purchased pins that I didn't need in the process of looking for these. They fit perfectly on my cat 1 3 point lower links, and Amazon has the best prices.
I was able to find a similar product for a lower price. It's a little long for my needs, but hey, it's cheap.
