The rubber grip is held down by a thin metal shaft inside a plastic tube. The shaft allows the ballpoint tip to be unscrewed from the pen's body. Ink refills can be replaced at that location / in that way. This is a very solid, sturdy pen.

I adore these pens and use them more than anything else. As part of my job, I need to write a lot of content, so I use this.
