How big is the eraser tip's end? Is it in the shape of a square or a rectangle?

It's a square, and I adore this eraser, which is approximately 1/4" squared. When erasing, unlike round click erasers, it never pushes down. It's fantastic! I have at least four spares because I'm afraid it won't be available while I'm away. It lasts me more than a semester, but not quite two, and this is in a calculus class where I erase a lot.
