I like this letter opener a lot. With a good cutting edge but no excessive sharpness, it is a decent weight. A beautiful painting with a lot of charm, and I think it would make a lovely gift for an Egyptian art collector, or a cat lover, yes "cat" since it is Bastet and not Anubis.

I'm a nerd, so I like to write on the envelopes of things before filing them in file cabinets, and never really considered using a filing cabinet at all, because opening letters the way cavemen did left rough edges and made filing complex. To illustrate how clean the cut is, I've attached a picture. The knife has just the right amount of sharpness, it also seems to be quite heavy, and it has some very nice shading on the metal. I can confirm it is made from one piece, meaning there is no seam or anything between the knife and the hilt. In the future, I'll order a bird-style one to present to a friend who loves birds on her birthday.

A real metal pointy tool made from metal, it is sturdy and easy to use

I love how well it works. Although it can still be pulled through envelopes, it is not completely safe. For instance, you might not be able to stick the point through. You won't want to give this to a child.

It is sturdy and has a nice design, but it I really like this Getting the paper jammed up midway is a result of not being quite sharp enough to open an entire envelope

I prefer this over other letter openers because it fits my hand well. Although the blade is relatively sharp, it is not as sharp as letter openers that I am familiar with. There will be a need to sharpen it so it can be used more easily.

A letter opener has been on my list for years now, but I never got around to purchasing one until I decided to go out and search for it. The Ancient Egyptian period is my favorite period.
