Three mechanical pencils were included, all of which were scratchy, light, and lacked the lead quality I required! Even at . It wasn't even close to being a bargain at $99! For things like margin notes that you might want to erase, this is a good, softer lead

This lead is better for writing light, easy-to-erasable margin notes than the 2B I've used in my engineering drawings, where sharper, more precise lines are required.

It functions admirably. It has a sturdy build and writes nice, dark lines. It actually writes better than the standard lead that came with the pencils. This size is ideal for young children learning to write because it is less likely to break than thin lead. I'll definitely be buying this again because this size lead is so hard to come by in stores.
