Questions & Answers
The vertical grid lines on your topo map are used to read your course line. You place the plotter on your map and align it so that the thin black line that runs the length of the N-S is parallel to the plotter. The plotter's length is determined by the path you wish to take. Ascertain that the plotter's N side is pointing in the direction you want to go. Slide the plotter so that the "crosshairs" in the middle of the plotter are centered on an N-shaped path, keeping the course line on your intended path. The true course is then read on the plotter where that grid line intersects the plotter, which is where the S grid line intersects the plotter. To get your magnetic heading, add or subtract any declination.

From personal experience, most navigators try to avoid drawing or writing on their maps. If your maps aren't heavily marked up, you can keep them for years. The 6" long "Direction of Travel" line that runs right through the middle of this plotter is ideal; your straight line is right there in the plotter! br>As well as the quantity, the quality is outstanding. (However, be wary of knockoffs when purchasing it. ) The ink appears to be baked into the plastic or bonded to it in some way. And the manufacturing precision of these plotters is excellent. Nothing is crooked or improperly cut. br>This plotter differs from others in that the degrees are reversed. But once you figure out how it works, you'll be hooked. (How to use it can be found in the answers to the questions. ).
This Westcott UTM plotter is made of high-quality materials and is ideal for plotting. Plastic that is both lightweight and of high quality. The lines on the plastic have been raised slightly to give them a tactile feel. This plotter, in my opinion, sets the bar for plotting, navigation, and adventure racing.
The item arrived in perfect condition. Plastic that is very hard. It appears to be a difficult task. Good buy. Shipping was very quick. The plotter is made of nice solid plastic, and the marks, numbers, letters, and other symbols are solid, legible, and appear to last rather than wipe away. The size is exactly what it says on the tin. The plastic is hard and appears to be tough, and it is about the size of your hand. I'm not sure how to add a half star, but 4 and 1/2 is the best I can come up with.
It's a good reader card, but it's a little too crowded. It almost has an excessive amount of information on it. It would be great if it included cutouts similar to the military protractors.
These are difficult to come by in the area. I like how easy it is to read and use all of the features on this. This product comes highly recommended by me for anyone who uses a map to plot grids, among other things.
The majority of our maps are in the seven-digit range, which is a fantastic product. This plotter/map reader is a great addition to the 5- and 15-minute maps.
