Accuracy and detail are the most important aspects of any map, and these maps stand out in a variety of ways. These maps irritate me to no end because I use them with my homeschooled children. The lamination is excellent, and they appear to be fantastic at first glance. The details, on the other hand, cut corners everywhere, irritating anyone who knows their way around a map. Is there any reason why the world map should not have a key? br>br>Is there any reason why the world map should not have a key? Or why are some countries' capitals (which is the country name) printed in small print with large bold letters? (Kids won't be able to tell the difference. ) Or why are some smaller countries' capitals not marked at all, while others, like New Caledonia, have a capital but no indication that they are actually French territories? The majority of small islands have no indication of who owns them, which is a significant oversight that could be easily remedied. Many small islands in a nearby country have an oddly different color, adding to the confusion (Is this someone else's territory?). They're self-sufficient, right? And, with all of the colors available to a map-maker, the possibilities are endless. Why are some countries that share the same color touching each other, maker? (This occurs twice in Africa, which is an unforgivable map error). Large swaths of land are devoid of any towns. I understand that Greenland has no major cities, but would it be so difficult to use some of that dead space to indicate where there is human life? Meanwhile, they went to the trouble of including all of the detailed underwater topography, as if that were an essential part of a political map? All this does is obscure the majority of Oceania's island nations. br>br>The US map is a little better, but it still has a lot of sloppiness. It comes with a key, which is a plus, but it's incomplete (why are some town dots circled?). The answer to the key is a resounding no. I've seen some dots for towns that aren't labeled at all. The same sloppiness can be seen in the island colorings (why are some of the Puget Sound islands a different color than the rest of Washington?). When the rest of North Carolina is red, why are the Outer Banks yellow? ) Some islands are pink in color and have no markings; The eastern part of Virginia is a different shade of green than the rest. br>br>Again, if you just want them as a decoration rather than a teaching tool, they are fine; however, if you have any sort of attention to detail, they will irritate you every time you look at them.
I used Loctite spray adhesive to adhere the piece to the board. The map appears to be of high quality. I used Loctite spray adhesive to adhere the map to a white, thick board from HD that I had cut to the same size as the map, and then I attached it to the wall with command strips.
These maps are large and of high quality, with crisp, clear printing. However, I found the term "laminated" to be deceiving. I was expecting a thicker lamination, but this is more like a "coating" than a lamination. You can use a dry erase marker to write on it, but I'd like to frame them because they appear to tear if pulled on.
The two maps, from a political standpoint, have high-quality graphics and are laminated for durability.
This year, we're incorporating Five in a Row into our homeschooling curriculum. Maps are a must-have, and these maps are particularly nice. large, with a great deal of detail It is simple to read. They've been laminated, but only very thinly. We worried about the kids messing up the edges, so my husband put a frame around them, but we taped things all over the map. It's still in excellent condition! I've told a lot of people about these maps!.
These are high-resolution maps of exceptional quality. The lamination is sturdy enough to hang, and the colors are vibrant. I am extremely happy.
These are some lovely maps. They have a vibrant, opulent appearance. They are readable from afar. The lamination is very thin, so I deducted one star. They appear to be sturdy, and they came rolled up.
When I got the package delivered it came in very good condition no damage to either the world or USA maps it came very tightly packaged up I even had a hard time getting both maps out they are very colorful and easy to read I already learned a lot of new things from both maps I'm the kind of person who enjoys learning about geography I like on the USA map how they included freeways and interstates.
