In my opinion, they are quite sharp My preference would be to use something that is slightly more delicate for cutting an umbilical cord of my baby.
This size is 24 inches wide by 24 inches long I was really surprised at how big and sharp they were.

It works well for me too! As you can see, I just tried it out for you. A card flipping parallel to the blade during the first attempt caused it to fall, but cutting straight through during the second attempt caused it to catch. There's a video of me doing it, if you'd like to see it you can email me. Although novelty scissors are surprisingly sharp, they are very well made! The only thing is that they are awkward to use because of their size, which is why you need to use two hands to operate them (parallel to one hand when using normal scissors).
