Good day, and thank you for your inquiry. This leather portfolio is made from a full-grain cowhide. Colombian leather, full grain Leather is still regarded as a full-grain material. We only use the top cut of the hide and do not sand, shave, or treat the leather, so it has a natural grain. The Genuine Leather tag indicates that this leather bag is made entirely of genuine leather rather than synthetic or split grain leather. I hope this helps to clarify things!
The problem I have is that the clips that hold the flaps in place break easily, rendering the high-quality leather useless.

A short tutorial: The three main grades of leather extracted from a hide (excluding bonded leather) are as follows. Full Grain - br>br> This is derived from the hide's outermost layer, which contains all of the grain (hence the name). On Amazon, I looked at a number of bags before deciding on this one. Price, compartments and 100% leather were all factors in my decision to purchase it. It's a really nice bag, and I'm not disappointed in the least. I was unsure if it would hold all of my belongings, but it does. I keep my work flat notebook (9 x 11 11") and MacBook Air 13" in the back compartment, both of which are well protected. My iPad Pro is in the next compartment, which is padded and protected by an Otterbox Defender case. Along with the padded compartment, there is another compartment that I do not require. A zipper compartment with a pouch under the front flap holds two checkbooks, three pens, and a business card holder. Another compartment for slim papers can be found on the back. There is a zipper on top of each compartment. The bag is made of a very soft and smooth leather. It appears faded in my photo, but that is due to the lighting conditions at the time. I don't drag it around much; it goes from my house to my truck, where it stays for the majority of the day unless I need it in my office; it was recently rained on and still looks brand new. I was in Office Depot the other day looking at their bags and they didn't have anything as nice and were a lot more expensive; I had my last bag for ten years and didn't think I'd be able to replace it, but this fits the bill. I was not disappointed in the least, and I highly recommend it.
I've had this bag for a little over three months and use it for work on a daily basis. I researched which bag I wanted to buy for my new job and narrowed it down to two options. I needed a professional-looking leather messenger bag that could hold a laptop. I finally decided on this one, and I'm glad I did! br>The bag is stylish as well as practical. At work, I get a lot of positive feedback. The bag is sturdy, and I've had no problems with it in terms of the zipper, tears, or other issues. br>It easily accommodates my 15-inch laptop. I can also put my padfolio in there, which is a plus. Three books, pens, notebooks, a newspaper, and a charging cable are all included. The pockets are large and deep, allowing me to easily accommodate my iPad mini. I know I'll be carrying this bag for a long time. br>The only drawback I could find, and it's not even a major one, is that opening the flap with the buckles is difficult. To release the buckle, you must really press down on the clasps, which can be difficult at times. Alternatively, if you're in a hurry to get something out of your bag, fiddling with the buckle could be embarrassing. br>I am very pleased with this bag in general. I highly recommend this bag based on my extensive research into professional leather messenger bags and the price point. It gives you more bang for your buck and will last you a long time. If this is what you're looking for, save time and money by purchasing this bag. You will not be sorry!.
