Questions & Answers

The dimensions are listed as 5. The dimensions are 8 x 4 x 8 inches. Which is the wider of the two - What about the part that isn't in the books? I'm aware that the person's height is eight feet. 1". ?

The dimension that would run the length of a book cover's width is 5. 8 inches. The bookend has a 5-inch side. 8" deep x 8" wide x 8" deep x 8" wide 1" tall. The bottom measures 4 inches wide by 5 inches long. 8" deep.

Is there a non-skid bottom on these bookends?

Yes, it has a non-skid bottom because there are square patches on the four corners that keep my bookends from sliding.

Do you think these would look good on a chrome wire shelf?

These bookends are suitable for use on any flat surface. They'll work as long as your chrome wire shelf unit is flat. They do have a padded base to keep them in place. Thank you

I'm looking for bookends without that horrible black foam rubber mess on the bottom; Is there a critical error in these as well?

These bookends have a piece of black foam on the bottom. You could either scrape it off or pull it off with your hands. It's not the sprayed-on foam that's rough and very thin.

When comparing 8 in to 8 out, it's important to keep in mind that the latter is more difficult 6 in
5/5

It works. One set of 8-inch bookends and two sets of 6-inch bookends are in my collection. br>br>The sizes differ in two significant ways.
- 1)The 8-inch pair's bottom is completely covered in a black non-slip material. The 6 inch pairs only have a good sized square of the non-skid rubbery material, whereas the skid rubbery material is only on the 6 inch pairs. On the bottom of the bookends, there is skid material on each of the four corners.
- 2) The height, of course. br>br>Because of these two factors, getting the correct size for the job is critical. In my case, I purchased 6 inch bookends for a long row (30 or so books) of children's books of various sizes that I knew would not be touched frequently by my children. I bought the 8-inch bookends for a long row (about 40 ish books) of children's books of all sizes that I knew would be touched multiple times per day by children under the age of 5 (which means they're not careful when they pull the books out, don't know how to put them back in the row, and the row that was once neat and orderly leans heavily in one direction at the end of the day). br>br>Both sizes do exactly what I expected. The 6 inch bookends keep the books in place and prevent the bookends from sliding around, which is an improvement over the old bookends I had, which would give way with only minor manipulation of the books in the row. br>br>The 8-inch ones are tall enough and have a non-slip surface. Because of the height of some of the books combined with the weight of the books versus the lower height of the 6 inch version and especially the decreased non-skid material on the bottoms, they keep my long row of leaning books that get touched a lot every day from falling over every night, a job I don't think the 6 inch bookends could accomplish due to the height of some of the books combined with the weight of the books versus the decreased non-skid material on the bottoms. Material for skids. br>br>If price were not an issue, I would choose the 8 inch over the 6 inch every time, but it is more expensive. Both heights have a sleek appearance, but the 8 inch is more functional.

They are successful
5/5

I expected them to be much heavier for some reason. But that isn't really relevant because they perform admirably. They currently bookend 150 vinyl records, which is no small feat, so I'd strongly advise you to check them out. For smaller spaces, I'll most likely look into the 8-inch version. This is an excellent item.

Great bookends with a lot of weight to them
5/5

I am a voracious reader. I have a lot of large, heavy books that put bookends to the test. I make frequent use of my books, so I'm always pulling one out to read or consult. I've given up on bookends in the past because when I take a book out, it tips over the bookend, which causes the entire row to tip over. Because the books will be displayed on a desk, I needed bookends this time. The problem of tipping has been solved with these bookends. br>br>I placed an order for 10 inch bookends. They have a thickness of 1/16 inch. Because the base is long enough, several books can be used as weights to keep everything in place. They're large enough to be true bookends, and I've never had any issues with books falling over when I remove a few from the row. br>br>I liked the black powder coating. There were no issues that I could see. The base is made of a thin, non-slip material. layer of skids There were no sharp edges on the edges. Under normal use, I'm confident they'll last a long time. The slanted design is appealing to me. Because they are in the shape of an "L," they save a lot of space. br>br>These are the best bookends I've ever used, and I'll be buying more the next time I need to support a stack of books.

Made in the United States, this product is durable, effective, and stylish
5/5

It's unclear whether you'll receive a single book end or a set of two. The number "1" appears in the listing. So I placed a second order. I got two pairs of bookends (4 singles). That's fine; the extra pair will come in handy. These bookends are slightly taller than most, with a thin, non-slip base. A functional slipcover that isn't too thick to show through the books. It's long enough to support at least two or three thick books without tipping over. The bookend is made of strong steel, and to bend it, you'd have to use a lot of force. They arrived two days after I ordered them, in a black color with a slotted design that is unobtrusive. They're used to support 11x8 soft bound books. Papers for the office, 5" These are excellent bookends. The best part is that they're made in the United States!.

Fantastic Alternative - Heavy Duty, to be sure! It's an understatement to say that this is a heavy-duty product
5/5

br>br>These are the most beautiful bookends I've ever seen. I have nursing materials in about twenty 4" binders that have destroyed every other bookend I've bought from different office supply stores. Removing even one binder from the shelf would have caused other items to fall over and bend the weaker, mass-produced binder. Bookends were created. That is no longer the case. br>br>I arranged them in the following pattern: LLLLLLL (bookend next to bookend, stacked side by side across the shelf). br>br>Result: I can take any binder or series of binders off the shelf without anything else moving or falling over. These are heavy, as other reviewers have pointed out (and even complained about). Why are there so many complaints about a product that says "heavy duty" on the label? br>br>If you have 1000-page hard-bound books, large binders, or other bulky materials - This is precisely what you're looking for. If you're working with heavy, thick materials like I am, consider using the suggested format of stacking them side by side.

Love! Excellent craftsmanship
5/5

These were purchased to help support and separate large amounts of vinyl in the safest, least aggressive manner possible. They're made of heavy stuff - That's exactly what I needed. When you bundle vinyl together, it becomes quite heavy. These book ends were tall enough to cover roughly 3/4 of the album and had a non-scratch pad underneath. I'm going to order a second set. Regrettably, it won't be available until March.
