Exactly what I expected - simple stamped metal bookends with a glossy finish and just the right amount of heft to get the job done. The tang for going beneath your books is nice and long, so it will stay snug when you're pulling books in and out near it, and the foot on the reverse side (about an inch long) keeps the whole thing stable. br>br>Great value for a functional product. br>br> The vertical support is about the height of a paperback and has some flex. For a wide range of book sizes, this is ideal. For really heavy items, such as textbooks, it might be a little light.
Some people prefer ornate book ends, which is fantastic. These, in my opinion, are critical in keeping books safe on open-ended shelves. It's sturdy, light, and very useful. br>Many thanks to JimmyK for his help.
These are light but strong, and they keep my books in place. They don't slide, but I was disappointed when the bottom of a bookend scraped my new wood bookcase while I was sliding it over to fit more books in (despite the fact that the bookends' bottoms are lightly padded).
For a crowded bookshelf, these classic bookends are ideal. With the rubberized non-slip surface, they stay put. The books are kept upright by the skids on the bottom. The design is simple, thin, and non-obtrusive. There are no burrs or sharp edges, so it's unobtrusive. They function exactly as they should.
They're made of metal and don't contain any harmful chemicals. To protect any surfaces they are placed on, they have skid/scratch feet on the bottom. The majority of bookends lack this feature. I paid more for two (2) sets of these bookends than I would have for a value pack of them. br>br>In the pack, there are enough for my daughter and her college roommate to share.
This is excellent. They are unremarkable, but they do the job. They're thin enough that I don't notice them and they don't take up a lot of room in my bookcase. This is a quality item.
For the number of sets you get, it's a fantastic deal! Exactly the right shade of grey! It reminds me of the ones I used to have in elementary school! These were requested by my uncle to go with his new shelf that he is getting!.

Despite the fact that they are simply made from a sheet of steel stamped and bent, everything about them exudes skill and pride; it's not often that a basic product like this demonstrates attention to detail.
