Selected User Reviews For 11x17 Binder Screw Post Acrylic Aluminum Hinge (Black)
I've been on the lookout for a portfolio binder that matches Pina Zangaro's quality and style. It meets my needs and is reasonably priced. I wish the screws weren't fixed, but it's manageable because it's compatible with Pina Zangaro screws, which can be extended to fit more pages. Only 1/4" of space is available with the original screws. It gave me 1/2" more space with the extender (Pina Zangaro brand). I also use Pina Zangaro inserts/sleeves, and the fixed screws make it easy to install. The quality is excellent. It's attractive and well-presented. The acrylic cover appears to be of good quality. I enjoy how translucent the white acrylic is. My logo is clearly visible. Overall, I would recommend this product because it is subtle.
This item is a waste of money for the price. The hinges, for starters, were crooked. This makes it extremely difficult to open the book without also removing the back cover. Second, the dreaded screw posts have been repaired. This means you'll have to use the size that came with it. There's no point in adding to your portfolio unless you're handy. I would have returned the damn thing if I hadn't been in a hurry. I had to drill out the existing posts and replace them with new ones. I also had to straighten the hinges so they could function as hinges. Stay away from this scumbag if you have $50 to spare. Because of all the time and effort I put into making this thing work, I think I should ask for a partial refund.
The fixed screwposts were my biggest gripe and the reason I didn't give it a higher score. The screw post on the cover is FIXED and measures about 1/4 inch. You CANNOT buy a new screw post in your preferred size; your only option is to buy extensions. Ruby Paulina's smallest extension (approximately $12 for 20) is 1/2 inch. br>br>So, if you need something slightly larger than the fixed size of 1/4, you're out of luck because the next step from 1/4 inch spine to 3/4 inch spine (with the 1/2 extension) is out of the question. This may not be a problem for others, but I find that having so much extra space in the spine makes my portfolio look clumsy and unfinished. A 1/2 inch spine, rather than a 3/4 inch spine, would have been ideal for me (using 25 clear sleeves with two printed sheets in each). Other factors to consider include: br>br>
- Approximately $30 less expensive than the similarly priced Pina Zangaro Screw Port portfoliobr>br>- -br>br>-br>-br>-br>-br>-br>-br>- Because the cover/back's acrylic plastic is slightly translucent, the first and last pages are visible.
- On the inside panel of the binder, the manufacturer's name and address are printed in gold.
The size is unfortunately unadjustable, as stated in other reviews, but the quality is quite good for the price. Other students had to spend well over a hundred dollars on theirs, and they were astounded to see how nice mine was for the price (approximately 45 dollars).
Priced at a premium. Nut certs (female screws) are fixed, so unless you can drive them out and replace them with your own length, you'll be stuck with that size. br>There's a lot of static cling, and I'm not sure how to get rid of it. br>I'd spend a little more money on a nicer binder.
It is not depicted in the product images. To hide it, I had to apply a sticker. Such a sham. br>br>In addition, the screws are difficult to use and are insufficiently long. With very light weight paper, I could barely fit 32 pages. Spend a few dollars more and get a good product.
120 So, this was a great deal in terms of price, but it was delivered with a small crack and the vendor's name, which I believe is unnecessary. However, I believe I will be able to remove it with care.
