There is no spiral binder in which pages when flipped lay flat. Instead, a 1-inch section in the middle with a screw stands up when the binder is open. When you flip the pages, there is a 1-inch hump in the middle with pages on the sides.

It is not nearly $100 nice, but it's not bad either. I like to look at my portfolio because it is well organized and works perfectly. However, I don't feel like you're getting the quality you should for the price. Some of the other styles, I believe, are worth the cost.
