Questions & Answers

A threaded stem is used on the wheels of my chair. Are these going to be effective?

These wheels do not have a threaded hole in them. They go in with a bang. They may fit in your hole depending on its diameter.

Is it difficult to put these wheels on?

I assumed that removing my old "wheels" and replacing them with new ones would be as simple as it gets. I swung my chair to the other side. I grabbed the old wheel and lightly yanked it. It was simple to get out of it. The new shaft went in very easily and without the use of any tools. You'll have a firm grip. My Herman Miller Aeron chair is one of my favorites.

Is it okay if I install these wheels with a hammer?

I wouldn't advise slamming your hands on the steering wheel to get them to turn! br>br>Obtain an extension, such as a long slender piece of wood or a punch tool, that will allow you to tap the wheels in from the base plate (the part that will go against the chair).

With these wheels, do I still need to put down a mat on my floor?

There is no need for a mat. These wheels will not harm your hardwood floors or any other type of flooring.

Until Now, I've been impressed; Because the bearing is worn out, the wheel rubs against the metal arms
3/5

I purchased two sets of these for our home office in April 2017: one for my wife's office chair and one for mine. I was tired of putting mats down on our hardwood floors because they were discoloring them, so I thought we'd try these. br>br>Until now, they've worked flawlessly. I noticed that it was becoming increasingly difficult to roll and that it was beginning to squeak, so I decided to flip the chair over and see what was going on. It turns out that one of the wheels' metal bearings has worn out, causing the wheel to grind against the support arm. Another wheel in my possession appears to be suspect as well. Given that these wheels are only used for a few hours per day, if that, I'm surprised they lasted less than two years. Last week, I emailed the company to inquire about how to begin the warranty process, but I have yet to receive a response.

There are alternatives for less money that are better for the price and have fewer emails
3/5

After a month, I'm still not convinced. I'm 6' 195lbs, not a big guy but not too big, and on two of the five wheels, the clear part of the wheel has separated from the black part, causing a horrible squeak. I have Pergo floors and had hoped to get rid of the mat. These give quite a bit of resistance when changing direction on a clean floor, as if the wheels deform when stationary for a short period of time, as seen on a HON Unanimous chair. I gave these a month, but I found them to be a waste of money. I found a second set of wheels for half the price and will test them out. br>br>Rating was a difficult decision; I would have given them three stars if the company hadn't spammed me for a review, almost forcing me to give them one. They eventually gave in and removed me from the spam list after I complained, but I still have complaints about the shoddy wheels and excessive emails.

Until November 2017, I'll be a fan of these casters. I'm a big fan of casters like these. I have a Frankenstein of a chair that my father has welded and modified over the years, and I've been looking for a heavy duty caster that can take a beating, and I believe these are the ones. I just put them on my chair today and WOW, what a difference. My father had to drill out the old casters' mounting holes because they were SCREWED in, but it was only a 7/16 bolt, and the new casters are also the same, so it was just a matter of knocking out the old threads.
- br>Let's fast forward five months. I can't deal with these casters. I wanted them to be the best, but after two complete failures where the bearing bb's came out, I realized I was being too harsh on these wheels. I went back to the Medal grade casters I had, but found some that snap in rather than bolt in. I guess I've spent my money on worse things than another $30 down the drain. If the bearings were sealed, they would be less likely to fail. br>- br>The 25th of February, 2018. company must have read my review and REFUNDED me 100% and offered to send me a FREE set of music . I should've informed them of the issue, but I didn't. So, if you have a problem, please inform them. I upgraded my two-star rating to a five-star rating due to excellent customer service.

Pros: It's quiet, sturdy, and effective
5/5

I had previously used plastic casters, which gave my chair a 1. I was able to sit perfectly with my desk thanks to a 5inch lift. br>Movement that is not audible. The only sound I hear is the chair's weight vibrating on the floor. br>I'm a big guy, and my chair was rated for 350 pounds (I'm 315), but the old casters kept breaking. These are holding up well and showing no signs of wear. br>Because of the roller-coaster effect, Because they must "flip around," these blades have a slight movement restriction, but all casters must do so. These casters appear to move more smoothly than my old plastic casters. br>br>Cons: My chair is red, but they don't come in that color. Overall: br>br> These are well worth the money. This is a nice upgrade to any chair that will give you more stability and comfort while allowing you to move around more easily. Be aware that they are slightly taller than shown in the picture, so you may need to adjust your desk accordingly. However, because they are made of steel and are quite thick, they are not light and are built to last.

After 10 months, the project was declared a failure
3/5

In February of this year, I purchased the wheels. They worked fine for about the first eight months, after which they began to occasionally hang up when attempting to move the chair forward, and this gradually worsened until the end of December 2019, when I noticed loose ball bearings on the floor beneath the chair. br>When I called Office Owls at the number listed on the website, the first call went to "Rob's" voicemail after a few rings with no response from Office Owls (similar to other reviews listed), then the subsequent calls went straight to a voicemail with no greeting. When I attempted to send an email to the address, it was returned as undeliverable (Error 550 - (Your inbox is full. ) Given the fact that these wheels are still being sold and how similar they appear, perform (flaws and all) like some of their competitors, I'm beginning to wonder if this is a band that keeps reinventing itself.

They appear to be fantastic
3/5

They appear to be great at first, but after less than a year, they're falling apart, one of the "tires" has come off the "wheel," and they're noisy. (It's most likely due to the other tires blowing out. ) I would not purchase this item again. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> Attempts to contact the "company" only reach "Rob's" voice mail, despite the fact that they claim to have a warranty. There have been no calls returned.

I worked for a while before paying off my debts
3/5

These are attractive, simple to apply, and served their purpose for a short period of time. Then, when I tried to scoot one of the wheels forward, it balked and turned sideways, which was extremely inconvenient. What I quickly discovered was that the bearing cone had distorted, and all of the bearings had fallen out. As a result, the wheel swivels sideways rather than in the desired direction. The shaft broke off after a few days of grudgingly being coaxed into place, as shown in the photo. Despite the fact that I am over 200 pounds, these were not well constructed. Now I'll have to spend another $30 or more on a set of wheels that is both sturdy and reliable. Regrettably, it appears that all of Amazon's alternatives have the same issue. They're cheaply made, and the upper bearing disk is made of soft stamped metal that warps and causes the bearings to fall out. On most of these tall skinny wheels, I see similar reports. UGH.
